Undetectable maphack *

The new program used for watching replays in first person mode was released two days ago. The program could be used for busting players using maphack since you had their vision. But as people were testing the program, it was discovered that it worked live, online.

The program gave people a great and unfair advantage, more powerful than a maphack - undetectable by both BWChart and BWScanner!

The antihack turned into an undetectable cheating device...

Late night, December 30, eXp)LasGo publishes his new program called OP3. It's designed to let you view any replays in first person mode. It shows live parameters such as Actions Per Minute, Minerals Per Minute, Gas Per Minute, Number of Supply and more. You'll also see what units the player selects, and even his first person view of the game.

Using the program option called 'Run obsBW 800/600 (with statistics)' means that your Starcraft will run in the upper left corner of the screen. The rest will be filled with the previous mentioned statistics of your preferred player (see picture). However, the program gets a 'fatal error' in Windows every now and then and has to be restarted often.

"ESTIMATE PLAYER SCREEN" TO DETECT HACKING
By selecting the option 'Estimate player screen', the program will automatically move the screen and show you the actions for the player you selected. Here's the way to check for maphack: Disable the vision for everyone else than the person you are observing in the replay. Now, click the estimate player screen option. If the player selects any buildings he cannot see or views a black area for a long time, there's probably maphack in the game.

THE ANITHACK TURNED INTO A HACK ITSELF
As the downloads of the program increased, it came to my knowledge that the program worked live, online, versus a random opponent. So, I tested it online and to my suprise; it worked just as when I was observing a replay. This meant I could see what my opponent was building, was selecting, his actions per minute, number of minerals, gas, supply limit and much more.

SENDS INFORMATION FROM YOUR COMPUTER
Starting the program, some of you may have noticed the program wants Internet access, and asks for it in certain firewalls, such as Zone Alarm. The program fetches your Battle.net username from the registry entry and sends it to the program's creator's homepage, inserted into a database. The program has been accused for sending other information, and at some time trying to connect to login.icq.com. The creator, lasgo, explains that the only thing he is fetching from your computer is your Battle.net username, and promises that no other information is saved from your computer.

SUMMARY: MORE BAD THAN GOOD
To summarize everything, the new program is surely a great program in the antihacking aspect, and very entertaining checking first person replays with, including lots of more information. But, the fact that it can be used as a cheating device totally destroys the other positive effects the program has, and makes more damage than it makes good. Lasgo can update the program, deleting this online function, but the program is already spread and there's no way to stop all these copies of the program out there.

A powerful antihacking tool, an entertaining replay viewing tool and a very powerful hacking tool. 3 in 1, judge for yourselves.

Update - BWScanner now detects OP3
I talked to TravelOfAiur, the creator of » BWScanner. In his » latest update of his program, he has added a way to detect the usage of OP3. It is considered as a hack and will report immediately to the server and the opponent (if he is using the program as well) if the client is using OP3. Download BWScanner in the link section below.
