I'd like my community LoL free. When you talk to someone who plays LoL (either LoL only or has only tried dota a couple times) they literally have no idea what they are talking about. It would probably ruin GG.net for me all together from all the flames and trolls that would arrise from it.

I must have missed the part where this topic was renamed into "LoL vs DotA - fanboys strike again".
Also I can't recall that it is okay to insult other members or groups of people in general. Stay on topic people.

The best way to make sure there's quality content around is to generate it yourself. Think your posts through properly before posting, be a little creative, ignore the shit and you'll be sure to attract at least a few decent responses.

Idk if anyone has realized but it seems like noone takes GGnet seriously anymore. When there are news, the discussion is extremely limited, most offer little to no arguments, most comments are 1-2 sentences/words long (I'm looking at you ngazi) it seems like GGnet attracts trolls/fanboys more than thinkers. For example, when it was announced Artstyle was being boycotted, most of the users were like "he deserved it!" "greedy bitch!" without even thinking there is maybe another side to the story. The Dota2 forums on teamliquidnet offers more detail into the story than here on GGnet. And there are long comments with strong and valid arguments whereas here we have "artstyle sucks". I find it sad that liquidnet (which is mainly a sc2 site) has more information relevant to whats going on than GGnet.

well if you post a serious thread here there is nobody to debate with or even talk to. so writing a one page thread to get 2 half serious comments isnt worth it.
everybody is in master league on the forums! word!

I would reccomend ip ban on certain country/ies that found generally annoying in forum and stream chat. I just... really disappointed how admin/streamer just could not care much about chat overflowing and various languages use on chat.

TBH, i started to see what ggnet has turned into, a website full of ads. I think i gonna stay at TLnet, at least it's moderated.

yea, gg.net is pretty much dead, atleast for wc3/sc section, teamliquid has a way better community than GosuGamers, even tho i really like the news section a lot more here, same goes for upcoming matches, but these are the only reasons why i visit gg.net, the rest goes completely to TL.

one true point is, ggnet is lacking recognizable faces with enough insight.
people like tobiwan, who polarize the community.
people like nincompoop or kuroky are gone.
what they got in return are boring people like godz, who almost falls asleep during his own cast, which i can perfectly understand.
maybe it just takes time to compensate the changes, maybe its just the wrong people. who knows.

what can certainly be changed, is the quality of the news section. some time ago, the news affected the community directly, by now 7 of 10 news are jsut some random shit.

my 3 cents

+1

And I feel you people are just trolling yourselves with all this nostalgia, at least for the DotA part. There's something to be missed in the SC/WC3 section, but in the Dota's ?
Hardly anything, the discussion was always at such low levels. Will remain so as long as little shitmakers - some of them have posted in this thread - keep on derailing and destroying good discussions. Tinyrock etc weren't good conversation providers, they just were blatant trolls of the Euro vs Asia crap, which I really hardly miss.

GG.net was always like that, very few people actually try to write properly, to make their point, while the rest just enjoy one-liners and silly comebacks they think is an answer that will make them look good. TL is better in that community aspect, but I don't see anything to improve the situation. The moderation is about enough, it's just the userbase that needs evolution - and that can hardly be provoked. SC2 and Dota communities are VERY different.

About the news, I don't feel their quality is the issue, but that the global website layout is lacking in clarity and reading easiness. The news section looks like any php-esque wordpress blog, I think it could use some refining.
In fact I think the whole website needs a deep redesign to be made a lot clearer, and not to look too generic :)
