Dota 2 getting Chinese voices

Several weeks ago, Perfect World was announced as the official distributor of Dota 2 for the Chinese market. Now sgamer reports about voice work being done in Chinese.

DotA is still more popular in China than Dota 2. Even though the professional teams have transitioned to Dota 2, the pub and amateur scene still revolves around the WCIII TFT map. However, with Perfect World Valve announced a distributor several weeks ago, who is supposed to explore the Chinese market.

Now sgamer.com reports about voice works being done on heroes. Apparently someone tweeted via the Chinese twitter that they were working on the voice work of Kunkka.

Translation of the tweets by DotaLand.net:

"To be able to do voice for Dota2's Kunkka is an incomparable delight! He is my favorite character in Dota, he's fierce, arrogant. Now his voice work is done by me! Of course it should be…"

Reply to fan: "over 300 lines! Although it seems like he's got a rivalry going on with Tidehunter in Dota2, over 80 lines specifically aimed at insulting him"

Reply to fan: "there's pretty much a joke interaction line with every other hero"

This is another step forward for Dota 2 in general, but a big milestone for the Chinese scene. The voice work seems to be close to the English one, with interactive joke lines for each hero and the respective counter parts.
