NE vs Orc T2 orc push (1880 reads, 1 replies, 9 months ago)
Hi Ladies.
I play NE vs Orc Matchup on most maps pretty standard: DH, Arch, dots mostly with Beastmaster and Tinker.
Atm I am playing many games versus a friend, who does not go the standard conter anymore. He buildes more grunts than usually (most of them during tech) in order to make a huge instant t2 push. IF my tech is fast he waits in his base to prevent my burrow go. And pushes directly afterwards with SH. IF im too late, he awaits me at the tavern or even in my base with f.e. naga. As I said huge push I meant an allmost all in go with peasants and towers. If he comes late, I await him with DH BM 1 Aow and 2 ancient of winds. If hes early, my ancient of wind are not yet up.
I would say my micro, compared to him, is pretty fine, but this amount of grunts and upcoming tower are- even in my base with moonwell and shop - often too much for me.
What can I do?
What I tried was to go hunterhall hunts, tech and than dOts. This often helps me to prevent the push, but also makes tech and master upgrade come very late. And it is not nice- I dont want to go so many t1 units and loose in matter of style.
What I also did was producing around 3 or 4 Archers, which didnt realy work out because of BM killing them too fast.
Why dont pro NE gamers need more than 1 or 2 Archers in this matchup- of course its because of their micro- but wouldnt they also go huntz or many archers if ORC pushes that strong in early mid game?
Ah and 1 more question. What is the usual conter vs. Tauren and shamans?
This is no prob- most orc players playing it are so noob i can easily win with dots, because there are no walker for dispell, but I guess that is not perfect.
Thanks

I play this push very similar to your friend (i always get naga to make the push instantly on t2) and I must admit it's very good against elfs because you have the army advantage at t2, combined with towers it's a powerful push. I remember winning mostly when playing this strategy, especially on smaller maps like echo, sv and sometimes tr when we have close spawn. The one thing giving me problems and making me lose was when elf picked naga also and started to focus my own naga, I must pull it back so i can't slow his dh and mostly it dies to dh, naga slow and arch nuke. So try naga as 2nd hero next time and add 1-2 additional aows.
