1 hero anywhere on the map (not dead) -> get's all exp

2 or 3heroes - 1)All heroes together -> xp is evenly distributed
2)Heroes are split -> all xp goes to hero which is closest to killed unit

If I'm wrong, someone correct me pls

It might be worth pointing out that if a hero is at a high level he gets less experience than had he been at a lower level.

An level 1 hero killing a creep that gives 10 experience gets 10 experience while a level 2 hero killing the same creep would only get perhaps 9 experience, and a level 3 hero only 8. (made up numbers in order to show what i mean)

This only applies to killing creeps. Killing enemy units will give your heroes the same ammount of experience no matter what level they are at.

srsly u get max xp anywhere on map? i have been lied to so many years now :C, this will change my play style with some races for sure, thanks lennis for that split fact, now i understand where i was wrong :)

But what if i play terenas stand,(just for some ok measurement of distance) and i creep the observatory near my base with only units, 1 hero is at enemy yellow xpo, and 1 hero is at my yellow xpo, is xp divided evenly or does it go to the closest 1?

Also i'd like (If any1 knows) the distance which u mena by "together" or "split" i understand the expressions ofc, but i think u get the qeustion :)

Thanks for all the info til now :L

yes, if you only have 1 hero, then no matter where he is, if a creep or enemy unit is killed, you will get the exp.

as for range of exp gain, i guess it is about the size of the screen. if the first hero already reached level 3 or 5, a lot of players like to creep their 2nd hero by itself to get the full amount of experience instead of splitting it between them. just keep the first hero off your screen and it should be okay.

and on what thorzain said, i think its not that they receive less exp, but that they require more exp to gain a level.
for example at level one you only need maybe 50 exp to gain a level. but at level 2 you need 100, level 3 needing 200 and so on. (not exact numbers of course, just an example)

i c my bad then.

edit- nope, they do indeed require more exp to level. at level 2 to 3 requires 200, level 3 to 4 requires 900.

yes, ofc heroes need more exp to level up with higher lvl. but they DO get LESS exp at higher levels. try it. I've tried it and it's like -10% exp gained per level-up. Allways learning new things

#3 and yea, about the distance - not really sure, but they don't have to be that much away... Like out of range of creeps/your units should be enough (you can chek this in some replays)

And because of what #2 said, what #1 said isnt quite correct.

If multiple heroes are creeping together the highest level hero will get most of the exp the creep can give.

All your heroes will have their experience increased the same number, but the X xp the highest level hero gained, took more xp from the kill, than the X xp the lowest level hero gained.

Therefore leading to what i said earlier. Example if you creep a creep that gives 100 xp to 1 level 1 hero with 2 heroes. Both gets 50xp.

If u do same with lvl1 and lvl2 hero. Both will have xp increased 40 in their xp bar, but the lvl 1 guy took 40 -> got 40. And the lvl 2 guy took 60-> got 40 because of the reduced xp gain.

The numbers werent real.
