weed can make you perform better, depends on the person... i often play sc high and sometimes it really does improve my performance, but not that my apm is higher i just play better, with better imagination... but when i am higher longer or i am stoned hard i play bad, totally, apm 50, can't react in time, can't do shit right... i know some ppl that smoke all the time while playing, but ppl do it for the fun, not to play better

If any of you remember the (eswc?) million dollar Pain Killer (fps game) tour; Voo (dutch ofc), which made the most/2nd most money was stoned a LOT. i dont know if he smoked right before games or if it helped him at all, but safe to say he ended up with ~400k dollars that year...

I don't really play games when I am not stoned. Why? Because I am a weed smoker. I like to get high sometimes in my leisure time, and also play bw during my leisure time. However, I don't think I would get high to improve my play. It is just a happenstance. Weed is absolutely not a performance enhancing drug. As people have said, it just produces an altered mind state, and if that's what you're used to, that's what you will want to compete with. It is something like smoking cigarettes. Someone who doesn't smoke can smoke a cigarette and get all light headed and nauseous, but a smoker needs that smoke to get into his familiar mind state. Same goes for this issue. Someone who doesn't smoke weed much will get very high and dumb, and if they tried to play bw, they would likely keep forgetting what to do, and have poor mechanics etc, but not necessarily for weed smokers. That being said, it does not make you play better.

I guess my point is, these guys aren't getting stoned to play better, they're getting stoned because they smoke weed and play games.

Athletes take drugs to give themselves an advantage over other competitors. People take drugs and play video games because they find it fun.
There is NO comparison here. A far better comparison would be between say, Steroids and a Map Hack.

have you ever played Painkiller ? This game is pure nervosity and speed ,
the fastest paced FPS ever created , way faster than Q3(vq3/cpma nodifference) WSW or QW even if you're Pro Bunny hoppers Defrag shit.
And being aware of what's going on at a so high speed isn't easy .

and Vo0 is still considered as the "butcher" of Painkiller despite the game died , sadly :[.

It was the CPL World Tour btw =).

Now to go back on the topic , some drugs , I guess may help you to increase performances . Yet it depends on the game , on the drugs and on the amount of drugs you took. And for sure why did you take these drugs.
As VoO could understand PK easier , some CS/Q3 players might get drugs just to boost their reflexes ,as a lot are taking drugs just for fun .
Now the real problem is , as Return said , if admins are promoting or just knowing players are taking drugs .

One day , one guy will just die @ a CS game because of drugs and the problem will be more than just "a problem" as it's all the competitive gaming scene which might get hurts
