Depends on what are planning to do with it.

If you are in gaming (and i presume looking forward to SC2, D3 and other games), watching/downloading movies, music, games themselves and so on, u get a PC, and put XP on it for the time being. (for about a year)

If you are on all of those things but u wanna pay almost twice as much for a system that almost cannot be upgraded, and have half as much options, opportunites and ultimately freedom, get a MAC.

If you are in programming, server management, you get a Linux on a PC.

Moving to MAC to avoid Vista is ATM a stupid move, as Windows 7 is around the corner, and i am delighted to say it's a really good step up from Vista, with A LOT better performance, and a lot more "open" management.

Also, as a man who used MACs before, there is nothing WORSE in the world, than a Quicktime player. Nothing sucks even half as much.

I say you buy a Mac if you have the money and run bootcamp if you have to play games :)

if you get a Mac, you are just trying to get yourself to waste time and money. Mac is not compatible with many things and i dont see anything the Mac has that makes a real difference over Windows.

yeah wtf with windows phasing out xp, vista sucks soo bad

I think some macs u can partition and have windows on, so if you do that you wont be missing anything.

If you want to play games better off with Windows, because all the support apps and etc are on windows.

Do this:

1.- Get a mac.

2.- Download BootCamp (Freesoftware)

3.- Download Windows XP SP2 from Torrentz

4.- Install Windows XP in your Mac.

5.- Voila, you have a beautiful Apple Computer with Windows XP for those programs that can only run in Windows.

However, once you get into Mac.... You will feel disgusted that you ever owned a PC.

One question: show us something you can do on a Mac but you can't on a PC !
Even the suggestions here are quite amusing. Buy a Mac then do everything in order to be able to run windows and other applications.......Why buy a Mac then?

So you can have OSX, the slickest OS out there right now.

It's cake to do anything, and also the layout and functionality just makes 2x more sense. Also it's easy to do things that otherwise would be dangerous to do, like torrent or d/l VODs or ebooks from a source that isn't established as safe yet. However, if you want to use certain applications that have only been compiled for Windows, due to Window's popularity and marketing, you use Windows. If I wanted to play Sudden Attack, or wanted to use advloader for Starcraft I'd have to boot up Microsoft.

#29 that actually doesn't work. you can't start the mac with a winxp sp2 cd you burned. you need an original cd. i've tried the burn the cd with at least 10 different settings yet the mac doesn't start with any of them.

Macs are not compatible with ANY launchers for SC. Also, you will randomly drop when playing on iCCup maps if they are not obs. Macs have so many problems with games..

On a different note. I've had three computers with Vista on it, not one problem yet. So.. Yeah I agree with #1 you seem very ignorant toward the use of Vista. You claim to have used it and seen people use it but you also seem to have the knowledge of the Mac commercial.

@ autusplus: Yes, only works with Mac with the Intel Chip.

@ szedrus: Let's use an analogy, you have an old car which stops working out of nowhere most of the time and crashes with other cars often (lol), You have the opportunity to get a Ferrari, would you get it? Mac's are perfect, they don't crash, no blue screen of death plus they look so sleek and stylish. Why not get one?

@DanyalDenyo: I pity you, just because it didn't work in your case doesn't mean the whole world's unable to do it. I did it, my friends did it and I've met some people who weren't able to do it but with the right help they finally did.

Mac: Better for work, like video editing, making music, and graphic design. Also it's a more stable platform (less random crashes). More intuitive and easier to learn its features IMO.

PC: Better for play; in terms of software support and graphics capability, and can pretty much do anything a mac can do almost as well.

Clear choice in my case...

Keep in mind also that macs are ridiculously expensive. Basically, if you like computers and gaming get a pc, you can always dualboot a pc machine with linux for a stable platform for programming and whatnot. If you are a trendy artist or something, get a mac ^^
