I'd say on my skill level its something like 1. Elf 2. Human 3. Orc 4. UD, but nothing is that much over the others. Elf probably just has a little easier because of the attack move power.

Interesting to see how the Asian players thinks the game is balanced, while the Europeans like to think there is imbalances...

TBH i think fact is, that imbalances exists. But it's not as big as a lot of people believe. If the players are not equal skilled, the best player is gonna win most of the time. And it's not big skill differences we are talking about. If a lvl 40 UD meets a lvl 38 orc (both being at their max lvl), the UD will have the largest chance to win at most maps.

^Agree, I think a lot of people also confuse imbalance with bad-matchup (they simply need more practise in a certain matchup) I've often yelled "OMGFKNIMBAELF" when losing to elf(happens quite a lot since it's my worst mu), but in the back of my head I knew that the scales of war were in my favor to start with.

Ye, I think elf is a very nice MU for UD.. But orc is the shit for me.... I have no freaking idea how to play fiends, and i lose after 10 min every time i try. If i want a chance i must go ghouls, which is pretty hard. Being forced to go ghouls on maps like TR and SV, is might why i sux so hard vs orc

I personally think the game is very balanced and really have begun appreciatnig all races and matchups. I dont think ANY matchup is imba including the infamous ORC vs UD.

The reason people believe these matchups are imbalanced is because they are accustumed to using and practicing only one (in most cases) cookie cutter strategy vs that race. Now in ORC vs UD on maps like LT, GW and SV with fountains that are conisdered "imba" for orc, (though i consider them a benefit to any strategically minded player) the reason for this is because of the playstyle of the orc player and the playstyle of the UD player, not the map or the race.



A TIP TO ALL UD PLAYERS: I know mass fiends is a strong and easy to use strat and is currently the cookie strat to choose when vs ORC. As an frequent ORC player myself (my most played race), i can tell u that a t1 ghoul rush is VERY effective vs orc. Orc can have at max 4 grunts and hero on two burrows. Typically, the Orc will tech to t2 very early, with only 1-3 having been produced. a rush of 8-12 ghouls and Level2 DK while the orc is teching, will most likely be completely unexpected, unless your opponenet is experienced and knows to KEEP scouting every game. If you time it correctly with good scouting, you can creepjack and hit the base, OR, hit right after the orc creeps. FOcus burrows. Even if you dont win the game and have to tp, having killed his burrows, you will have a big advantage in the game.

Of course the better player micro wise will benefit from his skills advantage, but it is often possible for a less strong player to beat stronger players with his own superior intellect.

IMO ghouls are better for most unit MU than fiends for t1, especially when fighting orc, who only will typically produce 4 grunts before he hits t2.


BTW I hope this helps all players maybe think about teh game strategically alittle more. ALL RACES CAN USE THE FOUNTAINS, i dont see how they are imba for orc. THey are pretty imba for NE at night? dont you think? Or for UD cause they can get air before any other race? Dont blame imba. Use your intellect and skills!



EDIT: Hmmm, i just thought of it a little more, fountain might be a little extra helpful to ORC than for other races, because of wind walk early game. I dunno if its imba :\ . I still dont see why other player capitalize on the resource as much as the orcs do.

I'll try to explain why: The fountains heal on percentage, so 700/800HP grunts get 1% of their life (7-8HP) per second healed while ghouls get 3,4 HP per second. Thus, ghouls get half of what the grunts gain in HP at the same time.
Taking this into consideration, it's always hard to beat an orc near a fountain

That is an aspect that i had never thought about Mael, thanks! I can now see how fountains can be especially beneficial for orc. That said, they are also super beneficial to all other races.

It simply has to do with playstyle.

archers and hunts can use it almost freely during half the game which is night time.

I think its maybe a little more imba for NE than orc, since NE already has very effective moon wells, and hunts are the fastest t1 unit at 600 hp and can turn invisible half of the game (lol).

Id love to see more NE use hunts on fountain maps. Perhaps that will become the new "imba" lol :P

That's imo only half the truth. Raiders are insanely important to be able to kill anything at fountains since a unit on the move is hard to kill when its constantly healed. Blademaster is also really good in combination with fountain.
