NE vs mass hhs and taurens (594 reads, 14 replies)
The game was on TS and i started going for dotts, dh, tech bm and so on. He started massing hhs from the very start so i changed to bears as dotts would be useless against them. Then he started pumping taurens and i didn't really know how to counter this one, thought of going for chimeras but they'd get ripped by headhunters anyways and when we fought i got literally destroyed, TS seems to be full of positions favouring mass range and those taurens hardly let me reach his hhs... Even if i did, combined dmg of taurens and trolls destroyed me and i got f**ked up so hard with no mass dmg spell...
Is there any way to win this game this way or should i just scout every 5 seconds >_>
Also, i always seem to be having problems when my opponent masses hhs and i can't beat them with any of those standard uits drs, drs/bears or dotts. Should i try to win such a game asap or what?

Hh = troll headhunters :D First of all dotts in crow form cant attack land units, same goes for hyppos and hypporiders are terrible anyways. And i edited the first post cuz i made a typo, i just have a problem against orc using this strat ;d

I played a game like this and actually mass kimeras did it....splash damge of kims raped those hh...ur job is to harras with dots as a "normal" dots strat so orc wouldn't even think ur going mass kims....by mass I mean 6-8 kims

Yeah well i guess chimeras would solve the fight posi issue and make taurens useless for a while. Seems like it was wrong choice to go for bears. Thanks dude! :D

i would go 2-3 MG, with chims, and just mass spam taunt while chims rape up HH, but i suck ne so i wouldnt try it

it's always the same , if you dont understand why you are doing something , but just copy pro strats , then you will lose to other players that have their own strategies , even if they are not so efficient , but at least they understand what they do (why do i get a tauren , why do i make this or that hero , etc) .
what you have to do is scouting your ennemy's strat , and ofc not let orc get T3 so easily . then you have to think in a rational way , for example : if i play against archers / aow in elf mirror , what units would counter it ? (same mix like hh / tauren actualy) .

I'd probably scout early, see the HHs and go panda second. Later on I'd tech to bears, get a few staffs and a pitlord and get some chims and MGs if necessary. That's purely theorycraft though.

Just go the usual dott strat... they dont do extra damage vs raiders as well, but does that mean you change strat? and if this guy had to time to get taurens you didnt play aggressive enough.. push at 50 food limit... and if he does manage to get taurens, add in some chims...

#9 there are some differences.

1) He starts massing HHs at t1, so its quite many of them before you even get the first dott out.

2) HHs are 2 food units, which means you'd need 1/2 more cyclone to get the same effect as before.

3) HHs can focus fire. You won't be able to use any healscrolls or anything. All your gold goes to replacing your losses and you won't be able to load your heroes with necessary items. The orc can still go spirit link and be effective.

DOTTS can also fire focus !!!!!!

also when they FF, just STAFF or pull ur unit back, i.e. micro

Aw cmn, dotts are useless against hhs, their damage is way worse and even if you cyclone half of the army for some time still their dps > yours by far.

Then again one volley of spears'll kill a dott, but one of volley of strange magic balls won't kill a hh :>, I think what MrOw said is the best advice.

the best thing a ne can do is harass a lot in the begging and u will win easily or i loose a lot when i used this strat if the ne just keep atacking.
