HU vs NE (677 reads, 13 replies)
So... I would say that elf´s are the hardest part when talking about enemys. I simply cant win elf unless opponent is a noob.

I play pretty much like fly100 and wh1000 so lot of peasant´s and FAST expand (this takes all recources of course) and when my 2nd town hall is ready and gold coming, my opponent makes firts attack with DH and meyby 5 hunts or more. In this point I have usually MK and 3-4 footies so there´s no way to counter him because i dont have any towers in the second base yet.

I have watched some replays and seen that "best" NE players dont make so much hunts because they go straight to bears but all that i have played againt does. Why in the earth?

Any suggestions what to do?

First suggestion: Go for AM and summon WE. MK is good for focusing heroes, but without mana (DH -> mana burn) it's rather useless. Water Elementals should take care of the hunts, or at least be able to hold them long enouhg to get yourself some towers. I also recommend you start building towers before your 2nd Hall is finished, so you have some defense.

Yeah, generally when in doubt, always build piercing units. Dryads and hunts are countered by these, and archers are nothing to worry about. When the bears come out later, you might have to add supporting units, but rifles and mortars are very nice. Most beginner elves go mass hunts, but in the end rifles win. Also, research upgrades. They pay huge dividends - longer lasting units, and keep down food count as well.

am i completly off when i say attack with am and 2-3 footies + 2 militia as soon as possible and maybe keep his hall out for a while since archers are so useless when you get defend

I'd say your best move is to send a scout militia. Most often you want your altar builder to get militia and scout the enemy location. If you see a hunter's hall going up, its going to be hunts. At that point I'd try to get my AM lvl 2 at least and get the blacksmith building. If you can see that there are two Ancient of Wars building, get a lumber mill and 1-2 guard towers too.

After that its rifles vs hunts gameplay. Keep in mind that the elf is vulnerable to rifles all the way to tier3 and bears, so be aggressive if you have the opportunity to do that.

Going Am is the best choise vs elf, no doubt! Creep to lvl 2 with peasants and get him up to lvl 2. After that u could try creeping a at some of the brown spots, this time also with some peasants. Its not neccesary going for a expo right away. Most of ti\he times u will be able to buy some units to help u out. A priest and a troll guy would help out alot. Now u can creep a gold mine, which will get ure hero to lvl 3. 3x workers on town hall, 1 on shop and 1 on tower. In the meantime scout ure enemies possible expo mine. A good elf would often try getting up a counter expo. At this point elf has maybe gotten tier2 units up, and ure expo will be up. Get 2 extra towers in both bases, this will make him unable to push. U'll have 5-6 footys up 2 shop units (lol) and 2 lvl 2 water summons. Tech to tier 2 and keep getting up towers. With that army u might be able to engage combat, and take out some archers, or most lightly dryads. When that's done start pumping out riflemen and avoid combat.

The thing to remember is that scouting is crucial. If u notice him going mass huntz ofc u wont go for a expo, top players can resist a push like that, but a good elf can also success with that kind of push. Instead of giving him the satisfaction of harrassing a fe, which is exactly what that strat is good for, u might consider a tower rush from ure side.

hehe, Bears and Dryads counters everything my friend, but the smartest choise would be going for rifles sorc - slow some priests + spellbreakers. Make sure u tech armor armor and dmg for breakers, since ofc a spellbreaker with 7 in armor and 27-30 beats 1 armor 16-17 dmg ;P
