Orc Strat? (2180 reads, 35 replies)
Hello, I'm new to this forum... Lamchopy is my sister... She used my favorite name. Ok getting to the point.
I use orcs, and I'm not sure what's the best way to defeat Night elves, Undead, and Humans. Human's usually go air..Or my friend does. I know orcs dont really have a chance against air.. Or to me they dont. I would like it if you post a build strategy to build and which units are good at a certain race, and which units are best for surviving the longest and have good def and what not...If i have something wrong, or it's hard to understand, tell me and ill try to make it more understandable. Thank You.

hum does casters alot , orc fight air pretty well i think .. start with grunts (no more than 4) and harass (FS or BM). Fast upgrade and two bestiaries then you have many choices... i preffer raiders with ensnare + batriders ... unstable concoction to air units 2-3 bats maybe and then bring them down and finish with grunts mayb lightning (i go far seer with this strat so chain them pretty much)

you can also go bm with wind raiders .. but this isn't very good against human at all (riflemans pwnz them)
whatever you do when you facing the air don't forget batriders.. they help a lot.
when using wolfies to ensnare , be sure to wear some flowers in you hair .. lol joke , be sure to wear speed scroll.. scrolled wolfs chase air and ensnare them down and chop chop chop chop ... :) grunts are good meatshield so they make front line and u must micro wolfies to do job .. bm focus enemy hero , when hero is retreating and imediately some air units are down , focus on them even with hero ...
to be honest with elves , do not know what to ever fricking do against them .. they pwn me with mass talons/whatever they want ... only way i know to defeat them is early harass try to kill wisps gathering wood , imediately tech to wolfs and bring down aows.. and keep them in presure .. if you leave elf to take breath , they will teach you teh shit...
and UD has pretty much things they can do against orc (as every race i just point out things that are common) but key is in creepjacking (stealing creep kills with windwalked Bm that delivers last hit and take exp) and not letting death knight level up fast while BM with shadow hunter wolfs/spiritwalkers are good.. i prefer shamans they are good on ghouls (shield pwnz) ..
Phew .. this is just very very very basic things , some ppl will surely add some things (or even correct my)
hope it helps

Basically vs human you should be able to face any kind of army with correct combination of grunt rider walker hh kodo. Hh's are proper antiair if u have enough of them.

If human goes mass air, he will spend lot of resources on that, and it gives you an opportunity to expand and just create larger army than his. You also might need tier3 versus t3 human, berseker upg gives hhs 100hp more, and you also get orb, fortified defences, kodo upg and third hero. All of those cost lot of wood, so be sure you got wood!

And orcs best mu (match up) is vs orc...actually that MU is kinda imba (imbalanced)....here's a "dictionary" for the most used slang on BNET (Battle.net) and forums:

gg: good game
gl: good luck
hf: have fun
afk: away from keyboard (absent, busy)
bm: Blade master
KB: Kodo Beat
SH: Shadow Hunter
FS: Far Seer
hh: Head Hunter

If U have another doubt about slang or something like that, Ill be happy to help U. U can add me ikomb@hotmail.com If U can host, I¡ll be happy to help U out practice your NE MU and even ur UND.

Orc doesnt have the hardest time vs UD, far from it :P
Orc vs UD is one of the most imba matchups in the game, UD has to play soo much better than the orc to beat them "/ It's sad...

Orcs pwn pretty much everything with just a good combo of grunts, raiders, spirit walkers, kodos, maybe some hh if necessary and a great micro of the bm.

Be sure to keep on harrassing the enemy and keeping him under pressure, rushing his base with your BM and killing collectors (peons, wisps ecc).

Scout as much as possible in order to pay attention to what the enemy is doing and try to creepjack as much as possible.

That's all.

vs hu
pretty much fast tech/harass to spirit walkers disenchant
ALWAYS carry scroll of speed or your screwed by slow
vs ud
another hard mu, i'm not exp with orc vs ud, except that they usually get destros/fiends/stats/maybe aboms, so....grunt rush to batriders and raiders

worst thing, orc-wise, to face imo is bm (1st hero) that does a constant harass right off the bat, then heals nd repleneshes mana at shop, then harasses more. keeps players off guard and constantly on defensive...kill their workers or, if u get a lot of workers, then farms/wells/burrows/ziggs. Build some towers in ur base for protection, then tier 2, then get wolf riders w/ net and shadow hunter. then spirit healers w/ spirit link...creep w/ ur sh. harass w/ ur bm until its ineffective then creep. its hard to beat if done right.

other thing. tower. tower ur opponent. burrow their base, whatever. harass their base from one side, then tower them from the other side. always come in the side opposite tower. most likely, they will go out that way. and u can tower push them. towering is awesome...i always joke with my clan and say that towers are the best units in the game...hands down. but they seriously can be :D

i strongly disagree with the majority of what you said.
you don't need to heal @ shop if you carry items =D, voodoo lounge first tear items r hots
and no tower is really needed b/c there are always well placed burrows to hide in
war mill + tower = a lot of gold, and you don't go taurens in a mirror do you? no
and bm never gets ineffective if correctly played, should be main dps
finally, tower doesn't work as well when your orc as it does when you're human b/c...can't get them up fast enough and the way they're built isn't as good as it is on human, so while you're taking your 4 or more peons for some chance of a succesful tower, you're losing a lot of resources and not all the towers might go up, and if you're meaning was to tower them before they notice, tier 1 demo = lol
ps yes the shaman is very essential to keep your army alive and your other heroes

Try to watch Replays..

Go to "wcreplays.com". Which you can find ALMOST all Replays of Top players of WC3(In the REPLAYS tab). This site has also a search engine, to filter replays that you want to get/download.

Using towers is a high priority of mine. It's highly effective making 2-3 towers behind a well guarded building. This would make it easier to back to ure base when ure in a bad situation with units engulfed with low dmg, aswell as heroes.
Burrows are usally good enough in the beginning, countering fiends, ghouls and gargs effectively in my opinion. Dryads/Talons/hippos/huntz. For hu casters wont survive long

Although, when high lvl heroes start to appear 1-2 burrows wont do much good. A tower on the other hand has a high range, approved dmg and a fast repeating attack. With strengted armor (forgot the real word) it wil be worth the cost, which is not high i think.

Orc towers is underestimated by many, and apparently u feel they're "Not needed". - Ure wrong m8, even though ure controlling the game the situation can turn in a second, no matter how good a player is. Towering can help u out of a bad situation and turn the game to ure favour, not only that, it's bulletproof vs a tower push, and common nelf units like talons will fall like critters. It's no discussion, a few towers doesn't neccesary mean ure "lowskilled" and need towers to win. It's a smart investment, and if ure enemy whines trying to point out the game is/or would have been gg without those towers... Well, that's his problem!

My friends usually go Undead/Humans lol that's what they usually go so im more into defeating Undead and HUmans right now...uhm for humans, is it good if i go 5 Taurens and 5 Spirit Walkers? For mid-game play? And is Mass Head hunters good for defeating air units?

1. Obviously i did not mean heal AT shop...I meant heal with items FROM shop. You are from the United States, there should have been no confusion with our improper english (and please don't take offense to that, there is not one American who speaks proper english...for example, do you pronounce Pittsburgh as "Pittsberg"? Do you spell favour as "favor"? No offense meant :D)
2. Burrows are, imo, one of the easiest targets if you are semi-unprotected, which, if you do a semi-tech to tier 2, you generally are. Towers dominate. And you should always have a lumber mill anyway, so cost is not really an issue considering their cost is minimal. Towers will often save your a**.
3. At a certain point HARASSING with BM does become quite ineffective. Once your opponent towers up or has high-level hero/quite a few units, then good luck doing anything productive with your blademaster at their base. Instead, go gain some levels creeping so that you don't get caught flat-footed later in the game.
4. I didn't say to go tauren in mirror? Anyway, if you were talking about spirit healers, they can still be VERY effective, even in mirror. Plus, I was trying to give lamchopy a general strategy that was easy to follow as to master it and win some games instead of "play the situation" and lamchopy not knowing what the situation was.
5. Like I said, there is not ONE game that goes by that a player should not have a lumber mill. It is essential. If a player becomes proficient at it, towering your opponent will most likely be an easy win, and a fun one :) If anything, one can rush with like 3 grunts, FS or BM and 4 peons that tower the outside perimeter. It is then established...so push. That early in the game its gg. The only time I would NOT recommend towering is if you have no clue where your opponent is or if they are human (and decent). And if you expo semi fast they wont pump enuff demos, with sufficient funds to stop the push (I expo semi fast).
6. Absolutely, shaman are very nice. Enjoy the lightning shield vs. low-hp melee nubs :) And bloodlust is nice. But as a basic strategy that is fairly easy, the one that I said can work wonders.

I bid you ado,
whippLe
