#1 Useless comment :P

There is a similar thread in the BW-section at gg.net which is of great help to their players, at least the newer ones. Some general build orders, tips on timing as well as counters depending on what you scout while executing that build order would be awesome.

I myself would like a couple of tips as well, and hopefully there are someone who would be kind enough to take their short time and help us noobs out =)

#3 How hard can it be to just scribble down some builds one has in your head, rather than making people watch replays? I agree watching replays is a good thing and all, but you make it sound like it's harder to write down a build than it is to watch replays and learn it that way, which it isn't.

Bottom line, what's the point in having a community if people won't help each other out?

Watching replays is not always enough, as noobies, like myself, doesn't always understand why some decisions were made and so forth. What are initial build, what are counters, what are improvisement etc?

All it takes is one build or two, then someone else will fill out what's missing and add a build or two as well. When this keeps going there will be lots of builds and tips - hence, a community.

I've also been wondering how many workers one should put on gold/trees in the start, and what proportions one should follow in general?

all races = 5 workers on gold

ud = 3-4 ghouls on wood
orc = 7 peons on wood
elf = 7-10 wisps on wood
hu = 7-10 peasants on wood

if ur gonna make a fe or some units/upgrades that need alot of wood, u will naturally make more workers to get it =)

make the workers as u get gold.. buildings first though.
in start(not ud ofc) 4 workers on gold, 1 to build altar, 1st peon out builds the next building

I've never been using more than 2-3 ghouls on wood, is it really worth having 4 there? Obiviously my macro is relatively bad and its easy to use the gold on orb and healscrolls at t3, so my way of playing is probably quite gold intense. Still, I think most pros use 2 at start and 3 later on.

Oh, and could someone explain the advantages of sky build? Does the early lumber mill help so much when it comes to wood, or is it because of the towering potential?

always atleast 3 ghouls if u going t3. Personally i like to use 4-8 ghouls on wood is that when u make fiends, ghouls give a very nice melee addition to ur army. Also when enemy harrases u while ur not near base, ghouls are some good defense with ur main(attack) + potential towers. Also ghouls are good for harrasing enemy expo. Attack enemy with ur main army and send ghouls to his expo. U might end destroying both, but atleast the other.

GHOULS ROCK :DD

a fast lumber mill helps alot, it takes mb like 15sec for worker to get a full load of wood, then without lumbermill it has to use like 4-10sec for walking, when u have lumber mill, they only use like 1-2 sec for walk in start. Big benefit.

Elf:

Standard hero, Archer:
4 wisps to gold
1 wisp to build altar
build wisps
first wisp that come out from tree of life builds moon well
next wisp that comes out from tree of life builds ancient of war
next wisp gold (so that you have 5 in the gold mine)
build wisps to collect lumber
build hero as soon as altar is ready
build archer as soon as ancient of war is ready
build 2nd moon well when you have 40 lumber

Standard hero, Huntress:
4 wisps to gold
1 wisp to build altar
build wisps
first wisp that come out from tree of life builds moon well
next wisp should be in the gold mine, so that you have 5 wisps @ gold
make wisps to collect lumber
build hero as soon as altar is ready
when you have ~160 lumber, build ancient of war and huntress hall
build moon well as soon as you have 40 lumber

When playing tavern hero, there are many different build orders but I will
just give one example.

Tavern hero, Archers:
4 wisps @ gold, 1 to get lumber
build wisps
first wisp that comes out builds ancient of war
second wisp that comes out builds moon well
next wisp that comes out should get gold
next wisp should get lumber
next wisp that comes out from tree of life should build altar
when the wisp that was building moon well is ready, he should build another
one
build archer as soon as the ancient of war is ready
keep building archers
have a wisp at the tavern when your altar is finished. by this time the heroes should become available to hire.

After the normal build I usually get this keeper hero, 1-3 archers and then go hunting for experience from the lesser packs of beasts. As I get more Archers I get an exp, add an AoW, get hunters hall and start upgrading, adding huntresses to the army while killing of more beasts for more levels and try to be quick with upgrading the Tree of Life in order to get those bears with roars, in addition to the healing rain, or w/e the hero uses at level 6. I also entangle the enemy heroes, while concentrating fire if possible.

I'm not able to watch replays, just to mention that, so I'm wondering if this is somewhat in the right direction or am I way off?

Also, how many heroes is usual? How's the timing for the additional heroes as well as how are they used?

I have only played a bit online atm, but me and a friend were going to do more. a strat not mentioned yet, but regarded as noob is the bear build for NE.
but since you dont know much (and neither do i) ill say it

what i do:
3 wisps to gold
1 wisp to make moonwell
1 wisp to make altar
pump wisps crazy, 2 to mine, a lot to wood
DH is my hero, go solo creeps
when my moonwell is done make another
usually i have about 7 wisps when i have enough wood to tech to Ages.
while teching, make a hunters hall and another well
when Ages completed, create 2 AoL's
...bears

i need to edit this start to include a Wonders in this, but i need to find where it fits good, ideas from others?

but then again this works well if you are not rushed, otherwise all u have is a DH, and if the enemy has no flying units
