APM just shows how some ppl want to be leet imo.
Almost every average player gets apm to around 250-300 in battles, but overall without spam that would be at about 150 max average in game

I do agree tho, that you can get warmed up with spam at start but later on it seems just useless to me.

anyhow imo:
APM (average) 250+ = showoff

#41 i think that the average apm which is useful is 160-220 ... not more ... i've see players with 170-180 apm making great things ....

just what I was saying if you didn't get the point :P

250 apm average is max, over that is spam and showing off, no skill
some really great players have it around 200

My apm is around 230 in the beggining but gets lower later on. I hotkey, spam and control my units!! My apm gets lower when I am creeping, it gets to 160-180 then. Though, that's still really high right?

If it aint effecting your game don't worry about stopping. If you find yourself spamming to much so you can barely focus on playing then stop it.

Spamming is neither good or bad generally but some feel more warmed up if
they do and then good for them.

you need 130 apm for good wc gaming because you only micro and micro. macro doesnt exist. as for apm - humanly possible without useless keyspam 24/7 is around 250, reason why it's easy to have 200apm in wc3 is because of poor multitasking which allows you to spam 1-2 hotkeys all the time - which many gamers do.

I noticed that when I watch replays of the pro's they like to hold down the right click button when setting the rally point - in the beginning that is. It sounds like a machine gun going off. Therefore, they boost their APM in the beginning in a very misleading way.

In my opinion spam is not really bad if you don't let it interfere your micro.

So when you're in critical situations such as battles, control you units the way you should. Otherwise, spam 1,2,3 if you want and you might just end up getting 400 APM.

Good times to spam would be when your army's marching somewhere and you only need a few clicks/hotkey commands to move them. Also when your army's sitting still and being healed after a battle.

It amazes me how serious people take APM. Honestly, that statistic is not relevant. What is relevant is your win's and losses. That is the only statistic that matters.

For WCIII, 150 average APM is all you need anyways.
