Firstly i want to mention that apm isnt some high number that better players have, its an estimation on how much they do in one minute, proper apm should mean that you are doing all the things in a game as much as possible in 1 minute, for everyminute. Creep, supply, scout, build, tech, upgrades, use mini map, watch supply count, watch money count, etc... Once you start doing all these things more often the apm rises. (ppl that try to be fast shud stop, and focus on remembering to check those things, over time you will be faster at checking, and apm will rise)

in order to raise your apm you must train your accuracy so that actions for macro are halfed in time, later on they will be halfed again and again. Thats practice.

Next micro is form of hotkeys and select/moves/attack i guess.. and so thats just always gonna be as fast as you are.

Creeping more often i guess, or scouting more will help raise the apm.

Next is always watching your supply limit and money so that you know when to macro so that means more actions will be done because you are checking to macro more often. Dont forget to check your mini map so you can catch attacks faster.

Third if people say apm is spam spam, and spam some more... They seriously need to learn a bit more about what multitasking actually is. Thank you hope this helps.

more than 200 its just spam no matter what everyone else say, grubby makes an avarage of 240 or something if u see a chart u see that grubby reach like 460 in the beggining so he makes about 200 in mid and late of the game, and we know grubby do all he needs cause hes pro even tho he spam a lil so more than 200 or 200 is just spam and nothing more.

an average apm doesn't mean too much, the key is the distribution of your apm and the accuracy .for example if you're careful enough you can find that sky's average apm of a whole game is not very high (usually 250-300) comparing with other players ,but his peak apm could reach 650+ even 700+ (i've seen one of his is 742,maybe there's a higher one) in most time ,which makes him able to do good multi-threads and excellent micros when facing a mass battle or hero surround-killing.

so an 150 ave+ 200 max apm is enough for an amateur player, after having this, you may should pay more attention to your accuracy of mouse moving and clicking and improving macros, then, advance apm higher for the ability of making more and better multi-threads as well as micros.if you have done all of those, gratz, you're a progamer already,go for a professional clan~:)

Happy and FoCuS have very high apm, DIDI8 also used to have high apm.

DIDI8 used to have very high apm. DIDI8 used to play starcraft.

lol this guy .. Boxer even writes about him in his biografy, he had 90 % won game vs Boxer PvT and almost eliminated the legend, in the end lost ..

I didn`t know DIDI8 became a w3 player :P

There was some SC player named Kyo with around 500 average APM but he died in a car crash because the all the strain on his wrist prevented proper hand movements to steer the wheel.

I spam without noticing it :D I while my army is marching or being healed or whatever I spam ctrl+hotkeys like hell, it's quite annoying, since I really would like to know what my real APM is, but I just can't seem to get through a game without spamming just a little bit. Now my apm is 280-300, so I guess without spamming i'm up to 180-200, no?

Anywhoo, if I don't catch myself doing it I really don't notice it, and it doesn't affect my game at all since when I find something real to do, I do it at once, so it doesnt matter. Still, I feel kinda stupid when people tell me afterwards "Zomg u haef 300 apm!!! LOL!!1 R u liek gosu or just spamzor?!" x)

I never spam in purpose, but might spam sometimes a little when I dont even notice it. When I have important match like ENC ones I have ~200apm. But if you play my noobish "sein" account in ladder it can be from 100 to 200 =)

Also I don't think I micro much, im pretty bad at microing, so I think that 200 comes pretty easily. Bringer always whining why don't I control my units better. I have to admit I can't. Also playing orc affects my micro, when I move blademaster I actually click the most, because I want to be precise with his movements.

AHHH APM = worthless but fun to show off, Spam rally points, move, attack, micro, hotkeys and all that crap will raise it, on roc while creeping when 1 unit starts to get attack what i do is move it back by very little, so basicly it turns around stops attacking losses agro then attacks again, the next unit that gets agro next to it i do the same, so ur contantly clicking =). Also ya battles = more APM. i say with a lower apm and u win makes u more pro lol

I reckon apm 200+ is quite average on pro players. At the beginning of a game they usually warm up by clicking hot keys of buildings and in battles , there are plenty of stuff to do in a relatively short time (i.e focusing fire, casting spells and using items on inventario). Basically the bigger army you possess the more micro you need.
As your skills develope, you will naturally get higher apm. BUT REMEMBER , apm is not always the definite sign of good micro, or lack thereof.

My average apm varies usually between 140-160 and it's sure enough for me

As Grubby says: "I think APM is an indication of how fast someone is, not how good someone is... though I think anything below 150 is really too slow for someone who want to reach top player, and anything above 300 takes away from the efficiency of your clicks."
