Human changing to orc (1808 reads, 30 replies)
I find my playing style more suited to that of Orc. Also Lyn owning it up. : )

Any tips on me making the switch.
-Difference in playing style
-early game difference
-expo difference
-towers?
-heroes

Just the differences and changes i will see as i change races.

Well see some replays?

You need to be much more aggressive and be very care full at tier 2 because ur beast and lodge can easily be pwned my some pierce. Try to come with some more info, we don't know how u play human :S

But a little hint don't use peons to creep with it is just not the same as militias :/

You also need to scout your opponent a bit more perhaps because orc is much about countering the enemy. Write some stuff you are having a hard time with then perhaps I/we can help you out.

Just why would you change from human to orc? Lyn owning it up does not mean orcs still don't struggle against elves and humans, just means that guy is just way too good, imagine if he played human.

First hero i will choice if i play Orc is Far seer he is good against all races. And maybe Shadow hunter och tauren chief as the second hero.


p.s Never go Tauren Chief as first hero, until u are skilled

Uhh... I get to 50 food and then somehow i get 2k gold and lose the game. Tips on when to cross 50 food?

Dual Beast usually gets rid of your gold surplus problems. Beasts and Lodge / Rax / Totem (lol) should keep you rather even.

If your wood is looking bad, of course, get more peons.

Also, BM is good if you're confident in your micro / macro (able to harass effectively without floating). Otherwise, get FS. TC second if you expect more problems with ground than heroes, and SH otherwise.

Harass or be harassed. And you don't want to be harassed. Burrows have heavy armour, not fortified, and if you lose one early in, you'll be put too far back to win in almost every situation.

Orcs win matchups because they don't let the other player do whatever they want, tech and expo as much as neccesary, and build a huge army. Apply constant pressure throughout the game, and punish them for every small mistake they make.

Orc Towers can be Fortified, which is good, but still cost alot of wood. Inherently, orcs have less wood than humans just because of the demand for grunts / marginally trickier food management in the start of the game. Great range, good damage, good armour, but they also tie up your valuable peons for much longer than human towers, and can't be speedbuilt. Get a few towers at your expo if you're expecting pressure - otherwise, just get a burrow. It'll keep your workers safe until your army can come back to fight theirs.

Expanding is good, the orcs are a greedy race. Usually, you'll have the resources to do so as you're going from T1 to T2. If you're in a map that's friendly to expanding (LT, GW, TM) and scout the enemy's expos out.

And on that note, losing a peon to scout is a waste. WW your BM, or send in a nearly dead spirit wolf to keep tabs on your enemy. (If you're using a wolf, make sure that it expires, not dies. They're worth alot of xp)

Human can improve their lumber harvesting at T2&3 and have Masonry uppgrades, and have ivory towers for quick massing. I'm not sure about repair rates but human seems faster.

The uppgrade for fortified comed at T3 but it doesnt't help their weak armor and HP. They avoid getting raped by magic though but instead gets very vurnable to siege which Human towers isn't.

Only good thing about orc towers are their range, which isn't really needed for turtling expoes, so Human turtling> Orc turtling. Orcs generally expo a bit more like elves and try to hide it away while being on their enemies toes while getting it up. A burrow can be good though as Kyanid said so you dont get your peons killed by a a few stray ghouls or something like that that.

2 beast if vs orc or ud...1 beast 1 spirit vs ne/hu...

gruntapult...grunt/raider...grunt/wyvern...gay bm and mass bats...

oh the options...
