Which headset? (576 reads, 9 replies)
So recently my headset broke, and I'm going to buy a new one. Which should I get:

Seinheisser 555's
Steelseries 5H v2
Icemat Siberia

Also, does anyone know if the Steelseries and Icemat require a sound card, or if I can just use on board sound for it?

TBH. all the audiophilacs go on and on about Seinheisser 555 actually anyting seingheisser. I think it's hard to go wrong with seinheisser.

I bet steelseries and icemat ones probably aren't as good, I hear a lot of diff companies buy cheaper phones and sell them for less, I mean steel series and icemat are mouse companies, they weren't originally making phones, they just bought phones from another company i bet. Can't go wrong with seinheissers, but if you don't have a good soundcard, then you wont tell a difference to be honest.

Seinheissers need an adapter piece so it can plug into your regular phone jacks, because good soundcards have higher quality larger jacks for expensive phones. But if you aren't going to be using a soundcard, it's a waste of money buying a seinheisser, because the quality of the phone wont matter if low quality input.

Go with the cheapest headphone, if you not using audigy or w/e soundcard

I would go for Sennheiser , it really is one of the best headset brand you'll find.
One of my friend has a Icemat and he was a bit disapointted but in overview it's a quite good headset ,has a cool design
and i can't tell you about the Steelseries .

The only thing about sennheiser is the unreasonable price tag.

headsets cost like 110 euro...

my headset is a steelsound 5h v2 its a good one
but the cable is a littlebit to short in my oppinon.
the cable is splittet in 2 parts 1 part is about 1 meter long and the second is 2meters long. Im a notebook user so i use only part one of the cable but its not very comfortable ^^ so i have to use the second part, too. anyway its a good headset at all :)
