Wow, Dota replacing War3. I suppose Dota is a little more international in that it's not just 1 or 2 countries dominating the scene. But still this is big for Dota, bad for War3. Although I am not going to lie, I have never been a huge War3 fan, I made the jump straight from SC to Dota and haven't looked back haha. So go Dota.

Wow, great for DotA and I suppor that (because it's a high quality / skill game). But leaving out WC3 really doesn't make sense. Without WC3's popularity there would be no DotA pro scene. WC3 seems to be far bigger in Asia, being almost like a professional sport and way of life for gamers.

Is this really a move against the Koreans, who dominate? Would WCG be so blantantly biased with regard to what nationality the players are? Seems like they would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing that and as a result hurting Asian gaming in general.

The time of War 3 has gone.I was a fan of War 3,but now I think dota is more intresting.

Well, the two biggest countries withing WarCraft is South Korea and China. It's kind of an unpredicted move that they removed the WarCraft tournament from an Asian even in my eyes.

When I think about it, there is no StarCraft either, and that's very very big in Korea. Hmms.

Well that's a normal move, even tho a competetion without WC3 and/or SC isn't a real competetion but always seeing Korean wining each and every tournament begin to be bad for the sport a bit. But in one or two years, it will be back I'm sure ;)

DotA is a lot bigger than standard WC3 if you look at Asia as a whole and not just South Korea and China...

Reason why it's the only WCG supporting dota. Hasn't SEC favoured Dota over WC3 before. They recently hosted Samsun king of the hill dota tourney and left out Wc3, then if so it makes sense. Doesn't really changes anything. They simply prefer Dota over ladder.

LOL uthers party, would also be good :D. Dota is fun for those who don't enjoy ladder, simple. Some prefer hero based map then Micro and Macro. Reason why some play WOW, some play ladder and some play dota.

I understand why you are angry with DotA: you can't stop it grow and become bigger than wc3 itself. So, gogogo flaming, but facts are there :).

LOL dota is growing? It's only one tournament. We are going to need a hell lot of more tournaments and league if we want dota to grow and currently not all dota leagues and tournament are succesfull. Teams dropping out of tournament for not playing on time or not being there or simply dropping out. Some tournaments have started for 1 year and are still not finish. Dota Growing? Don't think so. They are almost finishing with King of the Hill SEC so this tournament doesn't add another.

im not a dota hater but imo its getting big because its kinda easy to play , at least easier than wc3 , it requiares less determination and focus to be good at it so more and more people play it hense becoming more popular.

Ok... to all you people saying DotA is way easier etc etc. Sure it is in some ways, however in order to reach the top you have to play a LOT. It´s not like anyone can play like vigoss / Loda / LightOfHeaven / Maelk ^^ to name a few. Even if they play for years and years. The thing it lacks is the macro-aspect of wc3 but insted it requires quite a lot of micro as well as strategic thinking. And its fun and quite varied, compared to wc3 which untill the "real" patch comes, if it ever does is kinda restricted in particular matchups. Still I love watching WC3-pros play too, especially some innovative people like TH000, moon, Madfrog ^^ but I just can´t see where all this hate for dota is coming from. It´s fun, addictive and varied and involves a lot of teamwork. Try it. Maybe you can join VP or MyM or any other pro-clan in 2 weeks like you seem to say but I doubt it. hf gl

1. It need so many time and if u looose, u just flame ur mates as nooobs.
2.u must so many heros and items know.
3.its give only one map with this stupid forest desing.
4.the community of dota is terrible.
5.in solo dota suxx the map mis too big for 2 guys(in warcraft3 not).
6.if in solo is the map too big so u must allways in team play.

Tournaments and clans come and go, not a so big loss for the scene i think. In China there have been like 3-4 new announced tournaments this year, while only one dropped WC3. So i really cant see the big problem here.

But according to my experience dota is more for kids, and the scene is very unprofessional (apart from the pro/semipro scene off cause). Dota is more friendly for a new players, but I think when you learn to play WC3 for real, you stick to the game a while (at least a year)

LOL~ people say they don't hate DotA, but only that in reality the game sucks, takes no skill, is just one WC3 map, and is NOT, NOT NOT!!! growing in popularity, dammit!

1. It's not only a WC3 map, but an entirely different, well-made and complex game created from WC3 / TFT.

2. It's both fun (even though many, many little brats play on b-net, spam stupid crap, and leave for no good reason) and on the high level there is obviously a lot of skill involved. It's not at all easy to be a great player at this game.

3. It is growing in popularity, as the change in the Asian WCG shows.

4. Players who are good at WC3 may not be good at DotA. If DotA takes no special skill, strategy or knowledge, then take a top WC3 player and put them in a high level DotA game. See what happens (often they start playing a lot of DotA :p)

So many ignorant kids here :) Why complain so much on a game. I just don´t get how you get the energy and what you are winning by doing so.

If you're gonna use that mentality then WC3 is A LOT EASIER than DotA. Let's see:

- Absolutely no teamplay and coordination required in WC3, since it's 1v1. Dota is however 5v5. So WC3 is for noobs who have no friends and who can't play in a team.
- In WC3 you just get money 10gold/sec without having to do anything. In Dota you have to earn all of your money by getting the last hit on creeps/neutrals. So WC3 is for noobs who can't earn their money themselves.
- In WC3 it is really easy to hit heroes with Death Coil/Frost Nova/Storm Bolt cause they are targettable spells and you can't miss with them. In Dota, many spells like Light Strike/Split Earth/Elune's Arrow are not targetable and you need to take into account hero movement speed, spell casting time and lag/delay to properly hit those spells. So WC3 is for noobs who can't aim spells correctly.
- In WC3 there are lame strategies like early tower pushes and mass tanks to easily beat your opponent. In Dota there are no lame or cheap strategies and you can only win by skill.

Do you see how ridiculous these kinds of comments are? Dota is hardly an RTS, and they can't really be compared. Dota is definitely not a game for people who suck at WC3, that's like saying Counter-Strike is a game for people who suck at Quake. I will admit though that Dota might be easier to learn and in turn this has helped with it's popularity.
