France over Finland in European Nations Cup
Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 5 years ago
The first playday of European Nations Cup Season 4 is over. All matches were close apart from Sweden versus Croatia, a match that ended 4-0 for the Swedes.
It started with Austria taking down Czech Republic. Not even Giacomo could win his match, when a hot rulaZ defaeted the former mousesports player with 2-1. We also saw Firestrike go down to the Czech player Bonecracker, all in all a 3-2 result in favor for Austria.
Denmark, always an interesting team. Filled with MeetYourMakers Scandinavia players, we saw Denmark lose to a strong Bulgaria, with DIDI8 (picture) still playing in the team, though only in 2on2 with Shocker. MyWa and Ciara won their games, but Bulgaria could count on DieSeL, Insomnia and their 2on2 team. Another close match, with 3-2 for Bulgaria. We then saw the battle of the east, where Ukraine went up against Russia. FiX, Hot, Happy, XyLigan and Rob, what else to expect than a set of great games? HoT and FiX did what they should against Russia, giving them two points. They also very close in saving the day for Ukraine, as they went 1-2 in the 2on2 match. However, Russia were the stronger team in the end and won 3-2.
Last Tuesday we saw Netherlands go up against Germany. Netherlands has two superstars in the form of Grubby (picture) and RotterdaM, but Germany does not exactly have lack of starshine in their roster. Grubby and Rotterdam won the oh so important 2on2 against XlorD and Protois, and Grubby won his match against Fire. Many would have thought that RotterdaM would beat Thurisaz, but the Praetoriani player could defeat RotterdaM with 2-1, securing the win for Germany. And then last but not least, we saw the last matches today: Croatia against Sweden and Finland against France. Sweden took the initiative right away, using their two new recruits: GLaiVe and KnOfF. Croatia had little to put up with, as Sweden won with 4-0. The anticipated Night Elf mirror between GLaiVe and Zeus was never played.
Finland, considered by many a dark horse with lots of ability to reach far in this event, was a bit too short against France. Konna and elfittaja won their matches, but the oldschool players ToD and Wolf were too strong for Satiini and Sein. The 2on2 match was won by eLquA and Wolf, giving France the 3-2 victory.
