ESWC Groupstage 2 suspense unfolds

Posted by Ghassen "MaelStroM" Soussi 1 year ago
The second playday of the Electronic Sports World Cup hauled up its curtains today with the Swedish rising talent Marcus Sebastian "ThorZaIN" Eklöf bringing about upsets.

With Green Skins galore filling the first group, the odds were against the Swede to grab a place to the playoffs. Yet, the latter surprisingly managed to take down both Grubby and FoCuS, two high-caliber opponents thus earning honorably the second place in the group behind Lyn. The Dutch Orc from Evil Geniuses grabbed the fourth place sorely to grant himself a ticket to the next round, discarding LucifroN from the competition.

The second group knew a more conventional outcome as the Korean prodigy Moon as well as the Russian star Happy monopolized success to top the rankings with only one loss. The well-attested Mojawi Night Elf could have been on par with them if only he could overcome nicker, the second Russian player in the event to whom he lost by 2-1.

With four players proceeding from each group, the next stage of the competition will be a Ro8. Four Koreans and four Europeans will battle in the upper bracket to make their way towards the next round. The Dutch star player Grubby takes on the almighty Moon tomorrow at 10:00 CET forecasting an epic clash between the two eternal rivals.

Thorzain did superb coming where he ended up. But his worst match up has always been vs Nelfs and Remind is just a superb Hu-killer. So it was doomed to end right there.
