- I want to win through all the difficulties maintaining the calmless, as I am now. I believe that anything is possible, and I always manage to hit my goals without losing that belief, says NaDa.

- I need to start preparing for the army soon. However, if I can't avoid it, I might as well enjoy it, says Moon about his biggest concern.

In contradictory with most of you guys, I personally feel sad for them.

It's definitely nice to play games all day and actually get payed for that, but seriously, for how long can this last? In max 5-10 years, these guys will most likely be replaced by younger and more talented players. So, once they "expire", what will they do with their life? Most of them never went to college, some might not even have a high school diploma... Obviously, there will be a few exceptions that might try to hang on with their last breath, but as I said, those are "a few exceptions"...

Say whatever you want, but that's just sad. This life style might seem cool at such a young age ( 14-20 ), but it will definitely bite you in the butt really badly on the long run ( except if you want to live with your parent your entire life and count on them whenever you need to buy a pair of socks, pants, etc. ).

nice vid's. i always loved NaDa but i aslo always had a problem with him
that he is a terran player ;)

i thought that pro gameres scroll the screen with keyboard arrows
but they did just with mousse.( i was wonfering many times thats why
i suck?couse i cant scroll the screen with arrows... its so uncomfortable for me)

#7 nice vid and show what can u do with high apm

i hope i will see nada in sc 2 too ( maybe he also change race as many
gamer did for sc 2 and it will protoss )

#14 u right in half way but i think they can be still a coach or commantator or something.

#14 You might be right. I'm really not up to date with those things ( I have no idea what must one do to get to be a coach in gaming or how much a coach or commentator can earn in this field ).

#13 lol! +1
#14 you feel sad for NADA and MOON? do you have any idea what you are talking about? It is one thing when you lose skills as you age, but for some people, they have a big good reputation which can be utilised for a lot of good. And come on, they are still young. With a good attitude, they will go far. After all, come on, even Brian May became chancellor. =D

Sorry, I didn't want to mean that I feel bad particularly for those two guys... I feel somewhat sad for all "pro gamers" ( especially for the less fortunate people ) and when I see that young guys who could possibly do much more with their life, choose this path ( if I'm not mistaking, Moon also stated that he feels bad sometimes for not attending college ). How many guys above 25-30 you know of that are active "pro gamers" and who make a decent living out of this? It was not in my intention to link "skill" to "age"... although "age" might not matter much in certain conditions, it definitely matters when it comes to marketing and overall company image ( how would you and others feel about MYM for example if they'd have a team on grandpas or middle age people? I doubt you'd feel the same way you do now. )...

I didn't say that they might end up having a hard time now... I precisely pointed out, that in maybe "5-10 years" ( they'll be around 30 in 10 years... which is not old, but again, how many players do you know, around or over 30, who are still actively playing and are being payed decently for playing? ), they might find themselves in a difficult situation, where reputation won't put any food on their or their family's plate ( assuming that they end up having a wife and at least a single child ).

Also, I pointed out that "exceptions will surely exist", but there are more than 10-100 pro gamers around to World, who's names might never hit the spotlight... what about those guys? The chances of ending up like Moon or Grubby or any other "famous guy/gal" aren't that high if you sit down and think about it for a second... so trying to be that 1 lucky player from a pool of 1000 or 10000 ( if not more ) similar people, shouldn't make you feel that optimistic about choosing to skip school/college over gaming ( IMO ).

Anyway, we're really going off topic now :) sorry for that... I think it's the best if we stop with the philosophy here and leave this subject for another day. Cheers.

It is good to know a little more about them and the way they live, also, team spirit in WeMadeFox seems pretty good, its an organization that thinks about the future and how not to dissapear if they dont get sponsored properrly.

What I liked the most about the documental was this:

"You should hate loosing, but you should never fear defeat" -Nada

Agreed with #14 in some way but there are always options

And it would be a great blees for me to get payed for something I actually like to do, sadly its not my case LOL, but nothing is impossible, believe in your dreams ;)

#22 Benrath 1 year ago
@ 14 u could say that about almost every sport and the less fortunate mostly end up physically disadvanted because of injuries.
1
#23 Reflexive 1 year ago
@ 22 Not really, you can't say that about "every sport"... nor can you compare sports with gaming, the two are far from similar ( professional gaming is not even "fully born" ). It's nice to do the things you love to do, but IMO, you should try to think at least 1 step further than today... A "secure way" would be, that for a start, you'd try to get a solid job and gaming as a hobby ( maybe even attend a college, making sure that you have plenty of options left in case certain things don't turn out as expected... if time and talent lets it, gaming can become much more than a hobby but having a "solid job", from which you can even retire with a retirement plan is fundamental... flexibility will only be to your advantage ).

In Asia and especially Korea, things are a bit different and I think ( if I'm not mistaking ), they can actually hire you with "legal papers", which is definitely cool ( because it can be perceived as an actual job ), but again, problems could appear once you get too old for it or you simply lose your mojo ( or the only game you were ever good at, dies off )... that's a critical point from which some might emerge "victorious" ( find a new and well payed job ), but mostly ( I think ), things don't turn out to be too bright ( meaning that you might end up selling hamburgers at McDonalds for a minimum salary or scrub other's poop all day in public toilets - hence you have never attended a college and maybe never finished high school )... On the other hand, in Europe and the US, pro gaming is faaaaar ( "immature" ) from the Asian and Korean level, so people should keep that in mind too...

#25 He has a point though. What people don't mention is that in real sports you don't have to be amongst the best of all times to be well paid while in gaming you pretty much have to. For example, in my country, average footballers who are not known internationally win more every year than Grubby does with W3.
Besides that, chances of finding a job, after retiring, as a comentator/coach/whatever are way higher in real sports than gaming. E-Sports still has a long way to go until it becomes a real profession for more than VERY few people.

#28 sharingannn 1 year ago
#27 Good point about only the very few being able to make a living in e-sports. In my opinion no matter how much e-sports grows, this will always be the case. I know myself that I would not be prepared to spectate players who are not in the top 20 or 30 in the world. Even sports such as tennis are like this, where only the top 100 or so in the entire world are able to make a good living by playing the sport.

On the topic of the futures of aspiring players, I believe the sponsors should try to develop a way to give these players some sort of a degree during their e-sports careers or set them up with some sort of university course after retirement.

#25 I was never limiting the ideas to Romania ( I have never even mentioned Romania ).... You should be the one thinking out of the box a bit. Professional gaming is almost inexistent in Europe and as #27 pointed out, you'll be much better off doing anything else than gaming at the moment... There are way more options in any other field. In gaming, once you hit a certain age or the game you have been playing just disappears, you are not left with too many options... You can obviously try to migrate to a different game, but what if you find out that you are not that good at the other games? What if from "pro X gamer", you end up being "amateur Y, Z, N" gamer? It's like starting to learn to walk and talk all over again...

Also, I seriously doubt that "U can do whatever u want in some contries.", that's just a childish and naive affirmation. Taking a look at your age, I also doubt you have much "hands on experience" with those "some contries" you are talking about ( you should stop watching TV, real life is a lot different ).

#27 Very well put, that's exactly what I was trying to point out.

it still remains true that everthin u say can be applied to sports, where normally only a small percentage of the people can live off it. How many kids have dreamt off becoming a pro soccer player but never made it past 4th or 5th division but still wasted their education on it or had to give it up because of an injurie. Just because u can live on the salary of a 3rd league soccer player doesnt mean they wont have problems once they turn 30-35 and wont be able to play.

The problem u see, and there is one, is not a special e-sport problem. It happens all the time where a large group of contenders aim for a limited number of spots. Those who fail always have to face the conseqeunces. May they be more or less severe depends on the ammount of time they have invested in their dream and what they have done besides pursuing that dream.

You do realize taht their contracts currently with We Made Fox is quite good, so if they inveset it correctly and use their publicity, they should not have problems staying up... on average people can make about 50,000 a year and be just fine with their contracts they make upwards of 400,000 for 3 years? they could easily support themselves for awhile and in that time find something else to do. Im pretty sure that you cant tell me that you have a 400,000 dollar contract for 3 years can you?
