Sixth XP League season marks an end to the event

The president of the A1 broadcasting station "Junior" has officially announced the closing of the XP League.

The sixth season of XP League will be the last, as the league administration sees no chance of continuance.

Having a high amount of pressure for being the only active WarCraft 3 league in Korea, the adminsitration felt it was very hard to bear. They also felt that the league was no longer "just for fun", which was their general idea in the initial season.

The XP League administration did not see a bright future in terms of finances for the league. The league received lots of donations from fans, which together with money from "Junior's" pocket made the escalating prize pool reality.

Realizing it was not a good model for an eSports contest to rely on private financing and fan donations, especially with the current state WarCraft 3 is in, the league now comes to a close.

There were plans to invite Chinese players to the league, but due to the low prize purse most of them declined.

Some hope for a resurrection remain as former sponsor Gameplex are said to be in discussion with Blizzard to launch a WarCraft 3 league.

I and XPL admins feel sorry for closing XPL suddenly. :( Thanks for all who supported XPL! I will never forget XPL which change my life

Sad. I just hope some Korean companies to participate in the Korea War 3 leagues such as NICEGAME TV League, Warcraft 3 World War League and XP League as official sponsors so that I can watch official Korea War 3 leagues!!!
