Grubby vs Moon WEM Final!

Tonight we will get to relive the WCG 2008 Grand Finals as Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen takes on none other than Jang 'Moon' JaeHo at 11:30 CET for $14,000 in the World E-Sport Masters Grand Final!

After some early upsets in the group stage which saw hometown heroes Wei Liang 'Fly100%' Lu and Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li unable to claim a single map we then had a few tie breaker situations which afterwards gave us the four semi finalists of Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng, Yoon 'Soccer' DeokMan, Moon and Grubby.

Semi final one was between the two WeMadeFox Night Elves, Moon and Soccer. In past matches between the two the games were always very close but in this case Moon was on fire, taking the set 2-0. Really dominating Soccer right from start to finish in game two using a Priestess of the Moon with mass Huntress strategy executed with amazing micro showing us he is really hungry for a first place finish.

The other match was TeD against Grubby. It is well known throughout the community that there is a clear imbalance in the matchup even Grubby himself has stated it before however the Gosubet predictions were pretty much even showing it could either way especially after TeD's solid performances against Park 'Lyn' Jun in the group stages.

Games one and three of the series were nothing short of epic and they are a must watch (links to VODS below) which saw Grubby using a Farseer on game one in a really close back and forward game with TeD eventually winning. Game two was pretty much dominated by Grubby from start to finish but it was game three which would decide who would face Moon in the grand final.

Game three was a very long game which saw TeD constantly being bullied around by Grubby's Blademaster while the Tauren Chieftain collected items and XP tomes however we then saw TeD move out with a massive army of fully upgraded Banshees managing to take a crucial fight in the centre. Shortly after TeD was ready for the final fight heading straight for Grubby's base. At this point many viewers must of been thinking TeD has it in the bag but Grubby managed to lure TeD's army into a trap, funneling all of TeD's units in a small narrow pathway which with a few War Stomps pretty much wiped out the majority of the Undead army forcing a tp and with it any advantage TeD had. As both players gold mines ran out TeD managed to destroy one of Grubby's expansions but the orc player had another running right outside his main. The final fight was at this expansion which saw Grubby losing a few units and workers while TeD lost all of his units and his Tinker and eventually his Death Knight ending the game in favor of the Dutchman.

Now we are at the finals, Grubby against Moon which is bound to be nothing short of amazing. So much history between the two it can really go either way as well as both players really wanting to claim a first place finish after some not so great results lately.
