IEM Chengdu Day 1: Sky & Moon in triumph

ESL Extreme Masters IV Chengdu has kicked off today starring a bouquet of top-notch players such as Moon, Sky, Lyn and TH000 divided into 4 groups.

In Group A, Chinese superstar Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li drawn with the solid orc player 'Lyn' and the versatile 'TH000' took the bull by the horns and managed to beat his two opponents in a textbook performance, thus being the first to secure a spot for the next round. As 'TH000' got ensnared by Lyn's unconventional hero picks, he ended last in his group allowing the orc to qualify and got driven to despair in his quest for another major title.

Group B witnessed an astronomical show as 'Moon' pulled off a crazy game versus 'SK.Check' on Twisted Meadows involving a multitude of zeppelins, microed with a puzzling dexterity. Disconcerted by such a performance, 'Check' couldn't work a miracle and underwent defeat. The second game, confirming Moon's comeback at his top shape, finished in favor of 'The Fantasista' after he outmaneuvered Check's bears tech with an armada of archers, dryads and druids of the talon.
Later, the Elf succeeded in reaching a 10-game winning streak after facing the Chinese powerhouse 'Fly100%' outplaying him with the familiar 'mass talons' strategy, with a score of 2-1. The last duel opposing 'Fly100%' and 'Check' ended up by a 2-1 score in favor of the Chinese, who grabbed the second place and got the last qualification spot.

Group C and D matches will start on Day 2, starring the only two European players of the event, i.e. Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and Benjamin 'DeMusliM' Baker, together with tough figures such as 'TED' and 'ReMinD'.
