Blizzard Sponsors GomTV Wolrd Invitational

Posted by Gianni "EG.GenoZ" Rosheuvel 2 years ago
Blizzard is partnering up with GomTV and sponsoring their current World Invitational 2009 tournament.

The GomTV WarCraft 3 tournament is currently underway. There is still one more round left in the Group Stages for the tournament to move into the playoffs. Things are looking good for a few players while some do not have a chance to proceed anymore.

There seems to be only good news coming from the tournament. Apart from some of the best players participating, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that they are partnering up with GomTV.

In addition, Blizzard will be sponsoring three of their current leagues from which one of them is the WarCraft 3 World Invitational 2009 tournament, which is also sponsored by Norton Anti-Virus.

A total of 10 million Korean Won, that is approximately $8000, is being sponsored towards this tournament.

So Blizzard have a strategic partner against KeSPA from now on. it is not small thing.

Sounds good to me.

@3, has there been a disagreement between KeSPA and blizzard , or why would blizzard have anything against KeSPA?

#4 Blizzard Blocked Streaming of their game at ESWC Cheonan. so there were few unofficial streams for WC3/SC. and they are aiming SC2. Blizzard can receive royalty unlike SC1 from KeSPA or free from KeSPA to broadcasting. KeSPA had claimed "Broadcasting right" of SC Proleague and sold to some company besides Blizzard and that company received money from Game broadcasting Company.
