Blizzard canceled the invitation of NightEnd

Posted by Urluescu "IGG-SirNeo" Mihai 2 years ago
Blizzard has canceled the invitation given to NightEnd for the Battle.net European Regional Finals in Cologne because the tournament rules stipulate that players from Romania are not eligible.

A part of the email that NightEnd recived from Blizzard reads "I am very sorry to inform you that we have to withdraw our invitation to you to participate at the Regional Finals in Cologne, Germany end of June. According to our rules Romania is not an eligible country."

NightEnd spoke to readmore about the matter, and said: "I just want to emphasize on the dissapointment I've had from these events. I've worked hard and earned my place in the tournament but it seems that is not enough. It looks like you have to be born in a special or priviledged country to be able to participate in those kind of events.

"I strongly think that the only faulty legal part is on Blizzard's side because as a member of the EU my country has the same legal rights as those of the other guys participating in the event and we do have eSport recognition here in Romania as well as eSport tournaments (WCG, SEC, KODE5 to name a few).

"Let's say Blizzard didn't do a recheck on my country or not a check at all because there haven't been any participants from my country to their tournaments before or even if my country is indeed not eligeble then why even send the invite, ask and receive my contact information for the flight and delay me so much with a half-answer," says NightEnd.

Participants of the Battle.net Regional European Finals:
  • Spain Pedro Moreno 'LucifroN' Durán
  • Netherlands Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen
  • UnitedKingdom Benjamin James 'DeMusliM' Baker
  • Denmark Thomas 'ThomasG' Glinski
  • Spain Juan Moreno 'VortiX' Durán
  • Sweden Kim 'SaSe' Hammar
  • Russia Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin

#47 it isn't Romania's fault, it's Blizzard's fault because he is allowed by the state laws to play at the tournament

#51 is romania paying blizzard kind of fee that would allow romanians to participate in their tournaments? (I'm not to familiar with stuff here but I bet they demand $ to sponsor ppl on their trouments)
my guess is no, otherwise this wouldn't happen so no it's not blizzard's fault from this point of view.

#47 Dude you are seriously mind ill , can u read other posts? THERE IS NO LAW THAT PREVENTS HIM TO GO TO THE LAN , WHAT KIND OF STUPID LAW THAT WOULD BE EXCEPT ONE MADE UP?

    #57 Soptklan 2 years ago
#56 learn to read idiot, I'm not saying your law is preventing him to go I'm saying that romania most likely isn't paying for blizzards sponsorship resulting in romanians not able to participate in blizzard tournaments

jesus crist how much more retarded can you get, I know he comes from same country as you and you must be pissed as hell cos he can't attend but it's not blizzards fckin problem if your country doesn't want to pay

#57 omg ,I am speakless , erm , if I want to go to a contest I pay the FEE then i'm registred , IF I'M INVITED , I DONT HAVE TO PAY ANY FEE WHATSOEVER AND MY COUNTRY DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING BLIZZARD OR THE ORGANIZATOR IS DOING , you are saying that africa need to pay blizzard MONEY for the players there to w/e donno why but Africa must pay , BUT EVEN SO WHY THE CRIST DID THEY SENT THE INVITATION ??? are you people mind sick really , I mean , WHY WOULD SOMEONE PAY BLIZZARD , A FOREIGN COMPANY ?? WHY FOR WHAT? I can't understand this It is not logical people seriously , sponsorship DOESEN'T have to come from blizzard , small firms or even COCA -COLA can sponsor a player for him to go abroad and participate @ offline . If you don't understand this then .. w/e .

I'll try to explain it to you so even my cat would understand it, if you don't I donno what else I could say to you

in post #47 I stated that blizzard fucked up with invetation that NightEnd shouldn't get in the first place as the rules officaly state "Romunia is NOT eligible country"
in posts #52 and #57 I stated that Romunia most likely isn't eligible country because they don't pay the fee to blizzard to sponsor their players

and yes as far as I know players have to be sponsored to attend trournaments that Blizzard as company organises. to be sponsored the country/company you work for must pay a fee as this is not this kind of sponsorship you know, where sponsor gives you money to play under their name; it's more like a ticket to a concert if that's good enough example for you

that pretty much sums it from my point of view but I could be wrong as blizzard was wrong to send NightEnd invetation in first place and I'm gonna state it again: ONLY FUCKUP BLIZZARD DID WAS TO SEND INVETATION

apart from that, don't bash country like mine as you prolly can't even find it on map and keep in mind that ignorant ppl like you might be working in blizzard and they are laughing their asses of atm as they don't allow some Romanian player to enter their tournament.
I'm 99% sure that's not the case however as racism like this would effect their company greatly and they couldn't afford it, but then again I'd think twice to let someone from your country to even attand toilet cleaning if they were so ignorant as you are :)

#61 dude, do you know what SPONSORING means ?
Blizzard pays ALL THE FEES for the players, A L L, ALL, our country doesn't have to do SHIT for the player, it's realy that hard to understand ?
If you won a kode5 qualifier, kode5 pays ALL the fees, not your country

what a shame.... can I take his place?

jkjkjk, The best possible solution here is for Nightend just to "temporarily" move to an eligible country and just call that his residence, therefore he will be able to compete in teh B.NET finals!

    ITS GENIUS

maybe blizzard will explain more clearly to the fans and people everywhere why romanian players aren't allowed ... the act was racist ... if they don't bring serious evidance...

i feel so bad for nend hope that he will have the motivation to continue playing ...

#65 ok I might have used wrong word sponsoring here
let me put it in other way: as far as I see this tournament is organised by blizzard itself, all participants get free ticket to get there, prolly free food, bed ect.
I'm pretty sure that free stuff as it seems isn't as free as it should be as blizzard most likely expect countries to support ($). My guessing leads me to that Romunia isn't giving that support ($) to blizzard, which makes country eligible, resulting in romunians not able to participate on "free" tournaments like that

hope you get my point now, which I tried to put before with "other way of sponsoring". it was ment as -> you get sponsorship for players if your country pays benefit to our company - it's cheap but that's how world works

(I got a feeling romunians aren't really good at reading whole posts and jumping into unjustified conclusions)

#71 Ok , dude let's not make this a personal battle and don't start attaking me with words like "ignorant" "I bet you don't know where slovenia is on the map" and so on , the thing is , u get e free ticked there ,no food ,no bed .So cleared this out let's focus on other things , why would you pay some company money so that your people in your neibourhood can play a game that is "free". What DOES BLIZZARD have to do with New zeland or Polonia or whatever country , WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE COUNTRYS TO PAY BLIZZARD? SO THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY TO BENEFIT ON REGISTRATION ? Well you must be a retard to pay tbh , why? Because I'M the customer and blizzard is the seller and he can't sell me the right TO PLAY , only the right TO ENTER THE GAME TOURNAMENT dUe to diferent facts. I got a feelin slovUnians aren't really good at reading whole posts and jumping into unjustified conclusions!

#73 you clearly have no idea what you are saying are you?
firty you started with how mind ill ppl in my country are and logicaly i'll respond to that as I did - accusing you of being ignorant
ok we cleared that you are an idiot who starts things but doesn't take the blame, lets move on now

firstly nothing is free; not water, not gas, not gasoline, not even fuckin air
nowdays the one who DOESN'T pay is the fool as he won't get the thing he wants to have
how much effort do you think blizzard put into crating those games? more than you ever will in your life, so don't come out with stupid stuff like why the hell would we pay for it - I bet you expect your payment when you do your job especially if you do it good as blizzard done their games
now lets move to country part in all this story: in a certain policy country has to pay some trubute to a specific company to get legal use of their products.
I have now idea what kind of trubute blizzard is expecting, might be just pure company advertisment or something else. the point is Romunia doesn't want to give this kind of contribute to them thus Romunia is NOT eligible country for them, resulting they can't attend tournaments they organise.

I might be wrong but this is the most logical result of countries not being interasted into internet gaming (I don't really see anything wrong in this - better have food than internet gaming tbh), so they don't pay/contribute to companies that make games meaning ppl from that country won't be able to attend tournaments those companies put out.
yet again I'll say - it's same as with visa in russia; logic thinking - why would give some youngsters visa to go party and play games into some other countries?

anyways I'll rest my case here, you can go on bashing me/my country/ppl that live in my country and ofc blizzard; I don't really mind
I'm just hope you will grow up one day/wake up and realise you don't live in utopia where you get everything you want for free

oh and another thing, don't copy what other ppl are typing and just change some words, cos this only shows how unable you are to talk in english thus it shows that you prolly don't even understand what you are reading and you just want to bash everyone that don't agree with you - then again if you like it that way then don't get angry when some west EU person says to you - East EU still rides horses instead of cars and they don't really got electicity, they are just hacking into radioactive waves that that russian nuclear reactor left behind after it blown up
I know it's not like that, but talking to you sure gives you such feeling

^ Don't bother. When you are talking to someone who is from the same Country as the victim you would not understand how he feels. To him it is more then just NightEnd not participating, it is Blizzard in a way denying an opportunity to a community (Romania) they have. Just leave the case as it is. At this point there is unfortunately not much that can be done.

what i think soptklan is talking about is not really a fee the country pays , but more along the lines " if you promote our product ( advertising and such ) , we will allow your gamers to participate in our tournaments . if the "nationality in question " wins the tournament this will only help promote the game and other blizzard products ( WoW,D3,SCII) therefore increasing blizzard sale in that country. it all comes down to money , their not being racist .

what im guessing is romania isn't considered blizzard's target market, so they exclude them from their tournaments until they see an increase in popularity/sales. i doubt WC3 is as popluar in romania as it is in lets say korean, germany ( western europe for that matter) and North America. but thats imo

o and to the person that said to change residency to another country , that process thats a long ass time and its expensive , remember that nightend is a progamer not an over paid athlete that can afford to live in another country, pay for food , housing , internet, legal fees. all that for one tournament ? it doesn't seem logical.

#80 what that guy is saying I don't understand , why would a country pay fee to a company ? what is the intrest ? does blizzard make anything for the players of that country or what , and if you say it's sponsorship , then it's not , sponsors give money and so on for taxt deducers not for geting the money they sponsor from the person/country who sponsored.
