Blizzard canceled the invitation of NightEnd
Posted by Urluescu "IGG-SirNeo" Mihai 2 years ago
Blizzard has canceled the invitation given to NightEnd for the Battle.net European Regional Finals in Cologne because the tournament rules stipulate that players from Romania are not eligible.A part of the email that NightEnd recived from Blizzard reads "I am very sorry to inform you that we have to withdraw our invitation to you to participate at the Regional Finals in Cologne, Germany end of June. According to our rules Romania is not an eligible country."
NightEnd spoke to readmore about the matter, and said: "I just want to emphasize on the dissapointment I've had from these events. I've worked hard and earned my place in the tournament but it seems that is not enough. It looks like you have to be born in a special or priviledged country to be able to participate in those kind of events.
"I strongly think that the only faulty legal part is on Blizzard's side because as a member of the EU my country has the same legal rights as those of the other guys participating in the event and we do have eSport recognition here in Romania as well as eSport tournaments (WCG, SEC, KODE5 to name a few).
"Let's say Blizzard didn't do a recheck on my country or not a check at all because there haven't been any participants from my country to their tournaments before or even if my country is indeed not eligeble then why even send the invite, ask and receive my contact information for the flight and delay me so much with a half-answer," says NightEnd.

that's some straight up bull shit
WTF. I was looking forward to watching him play. He played almost 500 games to get into the regional finals. 500 games * 15 minutes = 125 hours of playing for nothing. Blizzard = inconsiderate bastards
Fucking Christ now Nicker is going to give free wins with SaSe.
Bullshit :(
Wow, that is bizarre and unfortunate. Wouldn't expect something like that from Blizzard. Is there a legal reason why? I'm sure they wouldn't do this randomly...
did u see the replay between grubby and nightend?!?!!? havent't seen such micro ever- even the asian monsterpro undeads seem to be worse.
#5 - http://www.sirneo.info/2009/06/pentru-ca-suntem-romani/#content says it all. In a way the rule was made before he started playing and was like that for more then one season. Chinese players are also not allowed to participate in the Battle.net season tournament and they know that. Blizzard will of course not make an exception.
SaSe still alive??
^ :) He is probably gonna go since the trip is free and also to give default win.
T_T
lame

He should not have spent so much time on the pro ladder if he hadn't read the rules. I don't agree with Romania being ineligible, but the invitation cancellation should be no surprise, he should know the rules.
sad for nightend :( gl next time mate ... you diserved it :)
I thought china doens´t participate couse chinese connection sucks and they had no chances against south korean internet connection (best of the world 100 mb) so the spots always went for korea.
@FurnanceAdmirer do you really think that in the rules he would have read.."If you are Romanian you are not allowed to play"...seriously man c'mon if you had been invited to that ladder and you were from romania you would just be like..MASSGAMES, WIN i think you wouldnt be thinking that if your from that country you can't compete!!!! :P
And BTW Blizzard thats fucking bullshit, excuse my french :)
If you read the rules, the first point addressed is eligibility. I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting someone who intends to participate in the pro ladder to read the rules. If he had read them he would have seen that Romania is not on the list of eligible countries.
sad for Chinese players.Although china net is crap, I still don't think Chinese players stand no chance to persue the topper or 1st place in that touranment. What a rule! No top hum players,no top Ud.So this touranment can be renamed "orc-NE craft"
fuck up rules DISCRIMINATION is just everywhere now a days lol
Tranquilizers + 10 to Nimic...psl.
this actually upsets me greatly.... i'm posting twice to show my disapproval.
wow this is just stupid on blizzrd's part. I don't get why they don't accept Romania.
WTF?!? For real? jesus..Blizzard, YOU SUCK! Cheer up Night!
Somone appears to be racists not pointing at anyone Yes racists because cmon.... " you live in romania well your outta here " they should've just send him a email saying " F#$% U man " cause this is total BS
Really really sad for NightEnD. Not fair at all, keep fighting anyway.
too bad i think nightend would have gotten top 3 tbh.
To all the people saying "he should have read the rules" you have to understand that is not the problem... Those so called legal laws were made to prevent gambling. There is no rational reason anyone from any country shouldn't be allowed to play for money in a RTS strategy game. It's not poker. It's sort of a fast chess even though I know thats not the best comparison. And honestly what legal problem do you think would have risen if he did go to the tournament? And it's not just him as a romanian, the same problem happens for instance with Arena WoW players from other countries...
sooo he cant play cuz he is from romania ? wtf ??? ... straight up motherfucking bullcrap imho T_T i wanted to see him play , i think he's playstyle is awesome
#29 Is he NightEnd going to do something Shane or people from Next Please? Like try to reason with Blizzard so they can make an exception or atleast convince them to let him go. Because something like this really is almost a once in a lifetime opportunity for many and it could be for him as well. And he is getting his taken away from him. Don't stop trying and I wish him the best of luck.
This is a big bullshit. Can't believe that something like this is happening in 2009. "Blizzard is an American company." That's all
I think I know why this happen. This is a quote from a poster on the WoW forums and it counts for WC3 as well. "While we would like all World of Warcraft players to be able to take part in the Arena Tournament, there are various legal factors leading to residents of some countries, states, and territories not being eligible to participate. These factors include but are not necessarily limited to: * Requirement to have purchased a copy of a game and/or pay a monthly fee to participate * Limits on the monetary value of the prize offered * Requirement that a contest sponsor (Blizzard, in this case) have a company presence within the borders of the country, state, or territory in which the participants reside" I think NightEnd falls victim to the third.
poor blizzard
For someone to put so much time and effort and come this far just be thrown out in such a short time is bullshit... whatever the "legal" reasons...
NIGHTEND > MOST OF THAT PARTICIPANTS !
What a shame. Such a great player!
As far as i know, blizzard isnt to be blamed, the fault lies with romanias legal system, apparently it does not recognize online tournament qualifications such as this one.
Seriously....no comment.
omg blizz so poor
@NightEnd Prove your ability by your action in game. After all, this is organized by Blizzard. Without BN, there're still many others tournament waiting for you! Come on!
omg stupid stupid rules, why Romania have lesser rights than other european countries LOL
#33 we had a representan of Blizz here (i don't know if we still have)
#38 As far as you know , those "laws" don't exist. And people let me put it this way, again, in another manner so my post won't be denied. Blizzard sent him a invitation to go to the offline ok? Then blizzard redreaws the invitation invoking some UNKNOWN LAW , and whitout further explination , well , whos eating the shit here : the player that "didn't read the rulls" or Blizzard who DIDN'T READ HIS OWN RULES? And btw ty you all for your support!
Yes Genoz we tried however this is one of those things you can't solve by word. Lawyers here say there's no such regulation in our country and Blizzard said that retarded "may" law retardness. Again I would like to strengthen the point that I find it retarded to even have such discussion, it's not like Nightend was going to the US to gamble at slot machines or whatever lol. Furthermore they delayed that answer and postponed him a lot. If it was my job at Blizzard I wouldn't have sent him the invite and after a few days not request his details for traveling. Even if I had made a mistake it would have taken me 30 minutes to write that bullshit answer and give him the news 2 weeks ago lol
NightEnd top 3, EASY! and there are no laws in Romania that keep him from winning an online qualifier and going to the lan, for example ENC (FIFA, WC3, DOTA) Blizzard, you s*ck!
the only mistake blizzard made (really lame one) is to send him invetation in the first place, apart from that it's not their but country's fault that NightEnd can't participate. All those who are are bitching around here atm pls wake up and realise you live in a fkin birocratic world where effort you make doesn't really mean much if you don't have "the papers". How many times russians couldn't go to tourment cos of visa? Anyhow it's sad, blizzard fcked up a bit and I bet NightEnd is disappointed, but dude, don't give up. Looking at those replays of yours shows that you really are great player and there are a lot of trouments where you can prove yourself.
fucking bullshit you got to love blizzard. not only that they prolly going to let you pay for sc2 each month nicea. blizzard is the same as hitler/bush lol
lol
It's really not fair!
