Recently it has been stated several times now on live streams that shackleshot is THE best non-ulti spell in Dota2. It more or less became the general opinion rather than using your own brain. You can disable 2 heroes for an enormous amount of 3,75 seconds (on level 4). Yeah that's right, it's like 2 guinsoos at the same; but only in best case. Most players are not facing such luck and only shackle one hero for that period. But is it really the best non-ulti spell? Can you really say that without saying that it's situational? I was playing shaker last night, ganking the lanes and such. My mates weren't complete brainless AI bots, rather than really good players who understood when to engage when a helping shaker arrives. And for christ's sake, shakers fissure does not only have a casting range of 1200 with 225 AOE, but also a 1 sec stun; and blocks the freaking path for 8 seconds. ON LEVEL 1! A well placed fissure will always give you a huge advantage by either engaging a fight or rescuing your mates. You are also able to block the path of magic immune heroes or help a mate getting blade-furied by a Jugger. What I am trying to say is: you cant really say which spell is THE best that easily because it is way too situational. And it also depends on which skill level you play. Yes, shackleshot is good, if not very good and surely belongs to the top non-ulti spells. But I wouldnt go that far to classify it or any other as the best. WDC has finished and DK continues its unstoppable streak throughout the year. But the whole tournament is tinged with a bad experience for everyone who was not able to watch it live at the stage I am really not going into detail about the result of the event; there are enough threads to discuss any team's performance. What everyone outside the event really disliked, if not raged about was the really poor coverage of the whole event. You can not call an event WORLD DotA Championship if noone outside China is able to understand the shoutcaster. Come on, at least make one in English too. I understand that if you put so much money into a tournament, you do not want to release/leak the replays shortly after the games, since you can add sponsor stuff to your vods and livestreams. But if you do so, please provide watchable vods; it doesnt make any sense for a tournament follower to watch the horrible quality streams which were provided from WDC. If that was the case, I would accept the fact that pplive and other super slow, inefficient and overloaded tools are needed (hint: why not jtv, own3d or any other easy to use livestream site?). DotA wants to be an eSport which will recognized by the rest of the world; not just the relatively small part to which we belong. But that will never happen if a non-DotA fan has to listen to foreign, super low quality streams and is forced to install several programs to actually see the game. More people on the streams means more recognition for the sponsor means possibly more money for tournaments. Here we can learn from other eSport titles such as SC2: MLG provides good streams in English, watchable with a browser and flash. I am sure there are a lot of fans besides me who would actually pay a couple of coins for a high quality, non-laggy and easy-to-use stream (in English). These are things which will hopefully change with Dota2, but until then we have to hope that upcoming tournaments will make up their mind and provide us the above listed things.
