WC3/DotA: Here I Come!

Hello everybody, this is McBat and welcome to my blog!

It has begun! Today coming back from work I bought myself WarCraft III + FT. I have to confess that I have been contemplating with this idea for quite some time. I wasn't absolutely sure whether I want this or not, after all I have StarCraft which consumes far more of my time than it should. I love StarCraft! However, it is impossible to be a part of the gaming community without noticing such a games as WarCraft and DotA so I decided to give them a shot.

Being totally honest, I must say that my biggest hopes were concerned about DotA. I've never seen it tho! So here I was, at the beginning of my journey. I started...heh. Well, I have no idea what it was and what it is. I've been running round and round without any purpose or sense. I think I should better read some tutorials and watch replays before I'll start playing DotA. Fortunately we have a rich base of replays here on GosuGamers.

After failing with DotA I decided to try my luck with WarCraft. This attempt was slightly better. Although I was as fast as a slug I was able to win against comp on the easiest level, barely. But I must admit that I kinda get to like this game. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

As long as I will have enough time I'll try to learn some things and tricks to get better and try my luck online. Well, Rome wasn't built in a day. :)

Any tips for a newb? ^.^

My oh my. School... How many years have past, how many nights I spent learning, how tired I sometimes was, how many beers did I drink...? Blah, now it's all over (at least for a couple of months... maybe). I finished my school yesterday so now I'm a holder of university degree. Woo hoo :D!

That's me a few minutes after graduating.

I finished Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. It took me a while but whatever, I'm a real lawyer. I have been working as one since a few years already but now I should be able to work on more difficult cases and earn more money. I will also try to find a second job. "Show me the money" xD. Damn, you can't imagine how happy I am right now.

And there's also a funny story why I decided to become a lawyer. You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you that it was because I was inspired by films: "Rainmaker" and "A time to kill", so I will say nothing :P. Life is full of surprises.

Well, good luck to those who still have some exams to pass!

P.S. My fiancée got a new dog today (a second one)

Starcraft Dinosaures

Hi everyone! I would like to share some of my own personal feelings about Starcraft scene with you today.

I’m pretty new to Starcraft comparing to most of you, I’ve been playing this game “for real” since about an year now, but none the less I'm not that young anymore. The age of players is what I feel I would like to say of a few words about. What’s the average age of Starcraft player? I guess it’s something between 16 and 19.

A couple of days ago I watched Stork vs Jaedong (BaToo OSL Ro8) VOD. All of you who are familiar with Korean scene know that the audience come with transparencies. On some of them I saw Stork as a dinosaur! Again! What?!? He’s not that old, he’s only 21! This made me think about other “old” players like NaDa, PuSan, BoxeR etc.

NaDa is doing pretty well apparently. He won some games and seems to be in a quite good shape. That’s good! I’m not any fan of NaDa though, but it’s pleasantly for me to see some older guy owning.

PuSan… As for me he will always be an icon of Starcraft. When I started my journey with this game he was one of the best protoss players around. When I asked people about good replays they suggest me his games. Some months ago I saw an interview with him and he said that he will try to come back and show us some good games. Unfortunately he didn’t manage to do that... yet. I don’t expect him to win everything, but I still have a hope. Go go Spirit-Toss!

BoxeR, the Emperor. As far as I remember he said he want to be the first 30 years old progamer. This is what all dinosaurs like the most. My fingers are crossed for him. In Boxer we shall trust! Nothing more to add.

How about you? Do you know/like some other dinos and feel like you want to share your opinion about them?

It’s not my intention to complain about youngsters, I like them as well. I wrote this blog inspired by a “Stork is a dinosaur” transparency and just felt like sharing my thoughts and feelings. I even find it cool because it makes Starcraft scene more colourful and entertaining to watch (just like FireBatHero dances). And I’m also a dino and needed to show off my solidarity.

Go go Dinosaures!
