Just arrived home from a stressful weekend were the the peak was watching the Ladder Season 4 Finals in Stockholm. However now when I am back here at Örebro my feelings are kind of mixed up with both joy and dissatisfaction concerning this event and maybe most, the outcome of it! First of all we could take a look at the top 6 that will arrive to Germany from this qualification: -Mouz|SaSe -SK.Insomnia -4K^Grubby -4K^ToD -SK.Fire -verGe.GLaiVe After a quick view you can establish that every single one of those 6 are real-pro gamers that have been into the scene for a long time, and really should deserve their spots. Thus I do not agree. If we take a look upon SK.Fire, a big icon in the German community, and how he choose to perform his matches you can quickly find a pattern. At least in 90% of the games he does a strategy that for some races at the moment are almost unbeatable. The word for this strategy is spelled towers. Every single game I watched this guy all I could see was: "tier2-bring-3-towers-on-AM-and-shitloads-of-peasants-strategy" - And it worked! Unfortunately I must say he is really good at this strategy but what I am worried about is that no one seemed to find a counter. Another guy who didn't make it to the top 6 but still messed up the standings good were 4K^Zeus. If you watch the third game between him and fnatic.Elakeduck on Echo Islands you will see how an elf that can't afford to lose can make himself unkillable, at least on certain maps. Zeus choose to stay within his base with the army for the whole game and only went out with his DH to make some harassment. The DH was not very successful and died once, TP'ed once, and even had to use a invulnerability potion once, but did this hurt Zeus? No. Echo Islands is a so small map that map control means nothing, even though Elakeduck could get almost every single creep his hero advantage did not favor him very much. There are just to few of the creep camps to make this kind of difference. When Elakeduck realized that Zeus would stay in the base he had the only option to expand, the problem was that the elf had built a lot of Ancients of Wars and simply just moved down and killed him with them and some talons. It didn't matter that he had lost his DH some times, or that he had less food, or not even that Elakeduck had got all the creeps. Zeus talons combined with the Ancients made him unstoppable and won him the game. Maybe some whine but you have to read this knowing that I am Orc player myself. This did however disturb me greatly. My meal with Elakeduck and Ciara at an overcrowded Burger King discussing the matches made me feel just sorry for my old team mate that all his practice was for no good against absolute cheese in my eyes. I gonna stop this entry with a quick thought Duck gave me. The first prize in this tournament is 10 000$. Blizzard payed every single players travel to Stockholm which is fair, but what they also did was to give all players three nights at one of the most expensive hotels in Stockholm, Hilton. Each night the prize were 1700 Swedish crones, around 200$. For twenty players this should be 600$*20 = 12 000$, just in Europe, for only the living! Most players said they could live in a lower-class hotel and take the subway to the café instead of taxi and add the extra money into the prize poll. Doesn't that sound logical? It should almost double it with only the money saved in Europe. But last of all, thanks Blizzard for putting effort into arrange an event like this. As many of the players said "This was probably the best arranged event ever". LeiZ out | |||||||||||||||||
