Well dunno for you but this was the first site I was introduced to about Torrents, and it's very sad for me to see it going down.

Please refrain from asking for sites here, this thread is only to show some kind of tribute to btjunkie.

#6 probly the whole p2p system as well as everything on the internet due to the SOPA bill in the US. Well if you havent heard about SOPA then google it, i dont know if btjunkie was hit by the SOPA like the megaupload or it just shut down on its own. All the same if the bill continues then the internet is f*cking dead.

Not using torrents. Even if I did, I wouldn't use such a public site. There are plenty of private trackers that are not going down for good, ever.
There are still plenty of hosting sites that can be easily "premium'd", and newsgroups..

SOPA and all the crap related to it only matter for the most well-known places for downloads.. Rest is fine as it always was.
Very sad still.

not only p2p as well as known sites such as wikipedia, youtube, facebook twitter etc. anything that violates piracy and copyrights will be sued. so most likely everything that we are enjoying right now will be lost.

#11 If you had done some real research rather than just googling and reading headlines, you'd come to find that neither SOPA nor PIPA has been sanctioned. They're both put on hold. ACTA, however... =/ Regardless, the FBI had been investigating and building a case towards Megaupload long before the SOPA was about to be voted for.

Sad to see the site go, though. Somewhat ambivalent, of course, being one of the people who actually acknowledges that piracy is and should be illegal, despite doing it myself :P

The guys hosting BTJunkie closed the side by themselves,no federal authority forced them to do it:). They say the Megaupload downfall and took immediate actions:).

As for the dude who said that "more private" sites will never fall down...you really havent read shit, have you? The ACTA deal allows your internet provider to closely monitor your internet traffic therefore the sites you visit:). The ACTA also sanctions the Internet Providers as they are held responsable for allowing users to access different sites or not turning them over to the federal authorities so you can imagine they`ll choose to turn you over instead of them going to jail. Read before posting shit. No site is or will be safe, ever. 80% of the internet,as it is,will be gone. And this is all thanks to big movie/music labels/companies (Warner,Sony,Universal, etc, etc).
