Nullsoft, the creator and producer of Winamp, got sharp criticism for missing important functions that were included in their previous release of Winamp, version 3. The popularity stayed with the old version, Winamp 2.9x and version 3 didn't break through at all. Therefore, Nullsoft announced before this summer that Winamp 5 was under construction and would contain the best and most imporant functions from both version 2 and 3. And here we are today, the first beta release (Beta 1)
WHAT'S NEW?
First of all the design is changed. There's a new standard skin but the one from Winamp 2 still remains, under the nickname "Good old Winamp 2. The file support from Winamp is improved but it's mostly the user interface that both works and looks better.
In my opinion Winamp 5 is far better than the old versions, even though it's a beta and I haven't tested it for long. Download it yourself in the links below.
