A Viewer's Guide to the final Overwatch Open qualifiers

The fourth and final round of Overwatch Open Qualifiers will kick off today. Read on to see what you can expect from NA & EU.

Event Hub

ELEAGUE & FACEIT's Overwatch Open is getting closer and closer. With a $300,000 prizepool, the biggest one so far, naturally all teams are trying their hardest to get a piece of that pie. So far, six teams have directly qualified (EnVyUs, Cloud9, Fnatic, Misfits, Rogue, REUNITED) while all other teams have been collecting points in order to qualify indirectly. Two more teams will qualify directly however, and we want to predict who those are.

Where to watch

The EU Qualifier will go live at 16:00 CEST, and the NA Qualifier is scheduled to start 5 hours later at 21:00 CEST/15:00 EDT/12:00 PDT.

Predictions

In order to help you get a better understanding of the teams participating, we have listed the favourites for today. With more and more top tier teams directly qualifying, the qualifiers have become more and more competitive:

EU

1.  Luminosity

The old 2sTroNk roster is currently leading the point leaderboards, and are thus confirmed to qualify as one of the top 12 points holders. Nevertheless, they are looking to qualify with style, and show they are better than the rest of the teams playing today. The reason they are on first place in this list is because they beat Creation eSports 2-0 in their latest matchup.

2. Creation eSports

Similar to LG, CE is also confirmed a spot with their 42 points earned in the last few qualifiers. Creation eSports has not played matches in quite a while, which might either hint at them focusing on training or them taking a break. Probably the former, as gamescom is also coming up quickly, but we will have to find out for sure if CE is still Europe's 3rd best team.

3. ANOX Overwatch

ANOX is still going strong. Even though they have faced (and lost to) top teams like Rogue plenty of times over the past weeks, they are still steadily climbing. Their last two matches were against Luminosity (a 3-1 win) and Creation eSports (a 3-1 loss), so the bracket might make the biggest impact today. Not that it matters by the way, as ANOX is also safe at 30 points.

NA

1-2. NRG/compLexity Gaming
The difference between teams in NA seems to be much larger than in Europe. NA is much more topheavy, with coL and NRG holding a solid 20+ point difference in the standings. The difference between these two teams is minimal though, and we do not have recent matchups to help us judge which team currently has the upper hand. Both teams have recently gone through organization changes, and how smooth those went might make the difference today.

3. Team Liquid

TL would be on a respectable 6 match winstreak, if it wasn't for them facing coL twice in their last three matches. These matches were still very close through, and TL truly does have what it takes to defeat coL as shown earlier on in the month. Given NRG and coL won so many of the available points over the last few weeks, TL is still guaranteed to qualify with their current 28 points if we are not mistaken.
