Malaysia triumphs at GosuCup #10 as Chongger 3-0’s Staz

With only two losses in the entire tournament, and zero in his top four matches, ChongGer is your new GosuCup SEA champion.

This season of GosuCup, the main storyline has been the competition between Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore. The trio of headliners took one trophy after another, pushing the other countries down the rankings. One of those countries was Malaysia. Despite being the de facto winners of GosuCup 2014 finals through AkiSera, Malaysia was still lacking a GosuCup 2015 championship. Until this Saturday.

In an amazing run throughout GosuCup SEA #10, ChongGer a.k.a. Beckham07 swept all opposition that he faced. His crusade included the stomping of GosuCup #1 champion Pewpewurface in the Ro32 and Filipino household name Staz in the grand finals. Both the final and the semi final series were one-sided affairs as CongGer’s opponents were given no quarter as the Malaysian swept them up in a rather convincing fashion.

GosuCup SEA #10 standings

1. Malaysia Chongger - $300 + 20 HWC points
2. Philippines Staz - $100 + 10 HWC points
3-4. India Gcttirth - $50 + 5 HWC points
3-4. Singapore Azuresky - $50 + 5 HWC points
5-8. Vietnam Kingofgun1990 – 1 HWC point
5-8. Indonesia Mokochiro – 1 HWC point
5-8. Thailand Talopo – 1 HWC point
5-8. Malaysia Jawsang – 1 HWC point

This week was a sort of triumph for the “smaller” countries as India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand all packed a few points, but that still leaves them with a lot of catching up to do if they’re to reach the leaders. With Philippines’ Staz getting second place this week, the country is now tied with Singapore, continuing the rivalry between the nations and putting it on equal grounds. Vietnam – once a proud leader of the table – is lagging behind as third, 12 points below the top two.

Nation standings after week 10

1. Singapore Singapore – 39 points
1. Philippines Philippines – 39 points
3. Vietnam Vietnam – 27 points
4. Malaysia Malaysia – 9 points
5. Indonesia Indonesia – 8 points
6. Thailand Thailand – 6 points
7. India India – 3 points
