ICCUP Season 1 Final Tourney!

The ICCUP Season 1 tournament has finally finished, and IefNaij takes the gold, and comes out $100 richer... what will he do with it? Keep reading to find out!

After a few weeks, the three Stage ICCUP Final Tournament has finally been completed... with the young Canadian, IefNaij taking first place.

First a brief look at the format of ICCUP's Season Ending Tournament:

The top 24 players from various "League Tournaments" held throughout the season went on to either Stage 1 or 2 (the top 6 went directly to Stage 2), while the top 14 ranked players on the ladder went to either Stage 1 or 2 (the top 2 went directly to Stage 2).

The players in Stage 1 were split into groups, in which the top 2 from each group would then advance to Stage 2, where the players were split into two more groups, with the top 2 advancing to Stage 3, the final stage.

The players eventually qualified for the Final Stage were: IefNaij, from Canada... HoRRoR, from Germany, Demich, from Russia, and Rosicky, from Korea. All of the players except Rosicky had to battle it out starting in Stage 1, so even making it this far was quite an accomplishment!!

Rosicky, probably considered the favorite to win the gold, simply because he was Korean, failed to show up the final day, which may come as no surprise... so IefNaij, HoRRoR, and Demich battled it out to see who would come 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!

With that, IefNaij was set to face off against HoRRoR in the Grand Finals, in a bo5 series.

The final placements ended up being:
1st: MgZ)IefNaij - $100
2nd: DkH.HoRRoR - $60
3rd: 3D.Demich - $40

We had a chance to have a little talk with IefNaij about the Tournament. When asked how challenging the tournament was, he replied "it would've been much more challenging , had rosicky been there. i'm 2-2 vs him in previous tourneys. other than that, i guess it wasn't too hard." And what is he going to do with his $100 prize money? "buy chocolate bars." Very nice! Again, congratulations to my good buddy JF for his victory!

Let's hope ICCUP keeps on truckin' and we can look forward to many more tournaments.
