Interview with RoX.KIS.DIMAGA - talking WCG & TSL

Few readers of GosuGamers will not have heard of DIMAGA - not only has he been a top-ranking foreign Starcraft player for years, he recently competed on the international stage in China during WCG as is currently fighting hard in the TSL.

In this quick text interview, DIMAGA took a break from lifting weights and ultralinging (nice new verb) opponents on iCCup to talk a little about his experience from the World Cyber Games and how feels about the ongoing TSL, as well as his own chances of winning and that of other well-known players.

To watch his famous game in the WCG where DIMAGA faced the Chinese star-protoss player PJ, scroll to the bottom. Enjoy:

Welcome, Dmitriy ‘DIMAGA’ Filipchuk, and thank you for taking time out of your busy laddering in the Teamliquid Starleague. You have been a top Starcraft player for many years now, and recently you went to the World Cyber Games in China. How was it too meet the best gamers in the world and play against some of the greatest Starcraft legends there is?

Hello, it was really great to meet all of them and to play against such big names. I had a good time in China, it was awesome :)

You played many matches in the WCG, though the only that was casted live was your game against Chinese Protoss player ‘PJ’ on Colosseum. It was a very exciting game to watch - what can you tell us about the match?

Ooh, I think it was a really bad game by me, I made many mistakes so I just lost my game without a chance, i think T_T I was real nervouse, it was main stage, its like first time in my life that I play such a big stage and it was SO MANY PEOPLE :) I think next time will be better for me ;)

Right now, you are in the top 10 of the TSL ladder - together with players like your countryman Strelok, Idra, XiaOzI, Mondragon, Castro and Mana and others. Many people in the community are saying that you are a favourite to reach the finals - do you believe so yourself, and what players are the biggest threats to you?

Yeah now I’m in top 10 and i want to end this ladder at top 12, I think I can do it :) Maybe I can be a favourite but not now cause I don’t know play too much, I’m just training in the gym now and playing football so its really hard to play SC now T_T and I don’t think I am a real favourite in this tournament cause we have many big names and real good gamers such as Idra, ret and F91. I think they have all chances to get into the top 3.

In a recent interview over at scforall.com, Artosis asked Idra and ret what they thought about all the big names in the TSL. They trashed most people, but both had very positive things to say about your play style and chances to get far in the tournament. What do you think about Idra and ret, who both have a good chance to win since they are living in Korea?

It’s nice to hear that :) I think Idra is the most stronger player right now, I mean among non-Koreans, so he can take top 1. ret is a smart guy and I think for this tournament he will be very good - he have some trouble with ZvZ but I think he will be improve a lot nowadays with the Estro team in all his match-ups and especially ZvZ, so I think he must go far, like top 2 :D But in another case they can have a problem cause they are playing almost only with Koreans at low latency and this tournament will be with Europeans and others so it will be a high latency situation for them. I think it will be harder for ret cause he’s Zerg ^^

Since you are already a highly skilled player in Starcraft: Brood War, do you wish to go professional as a gamer with Starcraft 2? Do you think that it will be a game suitable for proper eSports?

Really, I don’t know about professional, but I will be trying to play that game for sure :) we’ll see what it be like ^^

This is the chance to bring your own trash talk to your opponents in the TSL - why should they fear you? :)

LOL they dont, cause I don’t play mass games right now :)

Thanks again, DIMAGA, for taking your time to do this. Any last shout outs or famous last words to your many fans out there?

Thx u2 man. HEALTH for everybody and best wishes!

GG & good luck on the ladder!
