This week is nothing but surprise after surprise in the DotA scene as players leave and teams disbanding.
With the news of EG.DotA disbanding and the players going separate ways followed by KuroKy leaving MYM to go back to "his roots". Now, the Asian DotA scene is to lose one of their shining superstars as AEON.sg's captain, hyhy announces his retirement from competitive DotA.
hyhy's time in DotA is nothing but victory over victory. He lead his old Singaporean team, Zenith, to capture the gold at ESWC08. After Zenith disbanded, hyhy continued to play under Kingsurf which again continued to dominate all major tournaments in both Malaysia and Singapore. With the conclusion of SMM09, the world's most prestigious DotA tournament, hyhy has decided to hang up his mouse and call it quits for competitive DotA. Before disappearing from the DotA world, hyhy has given his last interview with tatazu.com.
When asked if whether his decision to retired is made before or after SMM or it was due to internal conflicts. He states that he merely lost the urge to play and that there is no problem with him and his teammates. He continues saying that although his team always trained and prepared well before a tournament, they always fall short and that now he goes to a tournament without much confidence.
The answer to the question that everyone will be asking after his retirement is whether AEON will disband? hyhy is confident that Eryc's team will never disband. Replacements will be found from a pool of potential players from the DotA scene.
