KeSPA Cup group stages underway

Source:e-sports.or.kr

16 of the world's strongest players are battling it out for some late WCS points.

September 27th marked the start to this year’s KeSPA cup, the unofficial warm up to Blizzcon. 16 of the world’s best players will go head to head to secure some late WCS points and bolster their application for the big show in November. Currently, groups A and B have been completed and the first 4 players making it into the playoffs on October 2nd and 3rd have been decided. Full group standings for groups A and B can be seen below.

KeSPA Cup Group A (Sept 27th)

Neeb2-04-0
Zest2-14-3
ByuN1-23-4
Rogue        0-20-4

KeSPA Cup Group B (Sept 28th)

TY2-04-0
Pet2-14-4
TRUE         1-23-4
herO0-21-4

Some big surprises here, while KeSPA’s aim was to bring the world’s strongest players together in an ultra-competitive event, not seeing the recent GSL champion Byun in the playoffs is still a shock. Instead seeing the american Neeb make it through 4-0 is not what a lot of people expected. The second half of the group stage will take place today (Sept 29th) and tomorrow, deciding the full 8 that will compete for the $50,000 prize pool and their share of 7500 WCS points.

KeSPA Cup Group C (Sept 29th 18:00 KST - COMPLETED)

Stats2-04-0
Trap2-14-2
Solar 1-23-4
MarineLorD0-20-4

KeSPA Cup Group D (Sept 30th 18:00 KST - COMPLETED)

Patience2-04-0
Maru2-15-4
Nerchio      1-23-4
Classic0-21-4

These groups see a lot of players who have real chances to make it to Blizzcon. Any of: Classic, Marinelord, or Patience can make it to the holy grail of starcraft tournaments with a strong showing here.

Groups C and D will be played on the 29th and 30th of September as mentioned before, and are available to watch on the ESportsTV youtube channel.
