Harstem conquers Shanghai

Kevin "Harstem" de Koning won WCS Shanghai after crushing Jens "Snute" Aasgaard 4-1 in the Grand Finals.

WCS Shanghai, which also doubled with Gold Series International 2016, was played over the course of the last five days. Everything started with the open bracket battle, where we saw Harstem, Snute, TooDming and Coffee advancing to the group stage. The group stage felt under the shadow of one Mongolian player, Sioras, who suprisingly topped his respective group, but was later on disqualified from the tournament.

The Playoffs bracket featured the top eight players, where we saw once again the underdogs causing upsets. Finally, the Grand Finals saw Snute taking on Harstem, where the Norwegian player was the one having the favourite role. However, Harstem managed to put up an impressive fight, and to defeat a very strong opponent in a dominant fashion. The series was closed with the score of 4-1 in Harstem favor, which awarded him $16,000 and 1,000 WCS Circuit points.

WCS Shanghai standings:
1. Netherlands Harstem - $16,000 + 1,000 WCS Circuit points
2. Norway Snute - $8,000 + 700 WCS Circuit points
3. France PtitDrogo - $5,000 + 450 WCS Circuit points
4. United States puCK - $5,000 + 450 WCS Circuit points
