Jin Air's Kim Yoo "sOs" Jin adds a second World Championship title to his account, this time from the IEM circuit. The WCS '13 winner defeated fellow Protoss herO[join] 4-1 and is now the fifth highest winning player in SC2 money-wise.
Known mostly for his innovative builds rather than his intimidating tournament record, sOs was the underdog at BlizzCon 2013 and he was arguably one at IEM WC as well. The history likes to repeat itself, however, and the Jin Air Protoss emerged champion once again, adding another $100,000 to his bank account.
sOs came into the tournament as one of only two invites, while the remaining fourteen participants had to carve their way through qualifiers or previous IEM tournaments. He was paired against IEM Shanghai runner-up Oz in the first round where a 3-1 victory sent him to the Ro16 against former GSL champion Jjakji who managed to qualify through the open bracket.
The 3-0 against mYi's Terran was followed by another PvT victory over the second invite for the tournament, Liquid's Taeja, which sent sOs to the IEM grand final. Though he met no IEM champion on the way, he was in for a special treat as herO[join] - the only player ever to win two IEM titles - was already waiting.
Back-to-back victories on Yeonsu and Heavy rain put sOs up by a pair and made herO[join] sweat as the CJ Protoss knew a 0-3 against one of world's most unpredictable Protosses would be almost impossible to overcome. A build order DT victory in game three gave herO a small room to breathe but his full defeat came soon thereafter - as he failed to bring sOs to his knees on the back of a proxy gate, the CJ buried his face in his hands, acknowledging the defeat.
With total winnings of $245,000, sOs is also the fifth highest earning player in StarCraft 2 behind MC, Mvp, NesTea and Polt
