Jaedong meets early end in WCS America

Group D of WCS AM Ro32 came to an unlikeliest conclusion. A tournament favorite and a five-times silver medalist in 2013 Lee “Jaedong” Jae Dong failed to make the cut for the next group stage, finishing last in the group with 1-4 score.

The famous Zerg had to play a tough opening match against Bomber which resulted in a 0-2 defeat, sending him to the losers match. There, he was paired with Taiwanese Has, who did not hesitate to showcase why Protoss is considered broken by the StarCraft community. Has recovered from his one set deficit and ousted Jaedong 2-1, putting an end to bonjwa’s aspiration for a strong start of 2013. Has would eventually lose to Bomber in the deciding match, allowing the WCS Season 2 champion from last year to advance as second.

Even more surprising that JD’s elimination was Arthur’s triumph in Group D. The young Protoss of team ISC took care of Arthur and Bomber with 2-0 and 2-1 respectively and got the higher seed into the Ro16.

Life, Dear advance from Code S Group G

With Zerg numbers thinning out in Code S, eyes were on StarTale’s prodigy Life to represent the race well and possibly join soO and Soulkey in the Ro16. With Dear and YongHwa in his group and with Protoss on the rise, however, fans were worried about the talented player.

Needlessly, as it turned out. The former Code S champion dropped just one map on his way to the Group G peak and slice through YongHwa and Dark 2-1 and 2-0 to be the third Zerg to make it out of the Ro32. Life was followed by Mousesports’ new recruit and 2013 WCS Season 3 champion Dear, completing the triumph of the fan favorites in Group G.

The last Code S group with Roro, Stats, Paralyze and Curious is tomorrow, February 28th
