Groups for Assemby Winter drawn, world's best ready for the $25,000 fight

Defending ASUS ROG champion Jaedong will try to start 2014 with a gold medal.

12 Koreans and 20 foreigners will travel to Helsinki, Finland for the $25,000 of Assembly Winter, the first ASUS ROG tournament for the year. Players like Jaedong, Taeja, Life, Snute, BabyKnight, Dear and HerO now know their opponents.

The 26 invites will meet the six qualified players at the end of this month. Assembly Winter is scheduled to run from January 31st to February 2nd and will be the second tier 2 WCS tournament for the year after IEM Sao Paulo. Thus, 4,000 WCS points will be given away, with 750 of them going to the winner.

As Kane is the only North American attending, Assembly Winters shapes up to be a Europe versus Korea affair. Judging by the attending names, the Koreans' chances seem better than ever as but a few well-performing foreigners - Snute, Happy and Naniwa most notably - are attending.

The tournament features the standard format of two double elimination group stages into an 8-man single elimination bracket. $10,000 winner's prize purse is waiting at the end.
