Axiom sign ex-Woongjin Mekia

The foreign team signs its first Zerg player since Miya's retirement, acquiring the former Woongjin Stars player Mekia. To be known as Impact from now on, the 18 year old ex-KeSPA will be the fifth member of Axiom.

It was on May 30th that Axiom lost their only Zerg player as Miya announced retirement and the team has been operating off a roster of only Crank, Ryung, Alicia and Heart since. It is only today that they fill in the third race as former challenger league player Impact joins the organization.

A star in the "State of Play" documentary, Impact (a.k.a Mekia, a.k.a. fOKINS) spent his entire professional career thus far in Proleague runner-ups Woonjin Stars. Wihtout getting too much televized play, however, Impact is still uknown to the wide public, looking forward to change that by signing with the fans-heavy Axiom.

"Axiom has always focused on acquiring proven talent in whatever form it may take, but this time we were able to reach further into unexpected territory," says Axiom manager John "TotalBiscuit" Bain in the official statement. "Axiom has maintained an excellent relationship with a number of KeSPA teams thanks to our player’s Brood War history and mutual practice arrangements. When Coach Ryu, a friend of the team, spoke to us about Impact, we were able to arrange a transfer from Woongjin Stars to Axiom in time for the second round of the GSTL."

Said GSTL currently has Axiom along with its partners from Acer in the first place after the first round of competition, meaning Impact will debut in a well-performing team. With the dates for the second round not yet, it is not known when Impact will make his debut as an Axiom player. His last match with the jersey of Woonjin Stars was yesterday when Impact lost 1-2 to Fantasy in the first round of Challenger league.
