WCG to go Mobile-Only, says Cadred.org

World Cyber Games will no longer feature PC-based games according to a letter from CEO Brad Lee. Cadred.org is citing this letter as proof for WCG's new mobile-only strategy.

No more PC-based national finals, no more Pan Championships, WCG official games only mobile games from now on. These are the major changes to World Cyber Games's strategy.

The Korean-based organization held major eSports tournaments with PC-, console- and mobile games for the last decade. According to the letter now partially published by Cadred.org, the massive change in mobile sales compared to PC sales world wide has forced the WCG to adjust.

"We had been committed to the PC-Based gaming event for a long time", they cite WCG's CEO Brad Lee. He adds: "Under this circumstance, we made a hard decision that we should bring the mobile, new key sector in the game industry, in our event concept."

No official confirmation from sides of WCG has been made, yet. Wether the change will be made already for this year's World Cyber Games, is unclear. Previously, WCG started a very well known vote for this year's WCG titles, including many PC-based games. WCG grand finals are to be held in Kunshan, China, in 2012 as well as in 2013.
