In an MLG Winter Arena redux, MarineKing met DongRaeGu in the grand finals of the Winter Championship. With the extended series rule on his side, MKP emerged champion with a final score of 5-2.

After losing to MKP 1-2 in the losers bracket, DongRaeGu had to go through Heart first but the Complexity terran was not much of a challenge and DRG advanced with a 4-1 score (due to extended series rule). Thus, the ZvT specialist moved forward to meet MarineKingPrime for a third time within two MLG events.

Entering the extended Bo9 series, DRG managed to tie the score in the first game to make it 2-2 but this was all the success he achieved. The next two games were more or less one-sided and a couple of timing attacks later MarineKing was sitting on a 4-2 score, just one game away from the championship. The match point was played on Metalopolis and was a fluctuating game with some mistakes from both parts but ultimately the victory was MKP's carried on the shoulders of his marauder ball.
