With three Koreans and two champions in it, one could argue that the group of death of IEM World Championship Hanover is very easy to spot. A second glance at all the stacked to burst groups, however, would alter this first impression.

With the completion of IEM Sao Paulo (with Violet, Supernova and Ret as the top three), the player line-up for the World Championship in Hanover was finalized. A total of 24 players are divided into four groups, awaiting the tournament's start on March 6.

Group A
Korea Violet
Korea MMA
Korea JYP
Chile Killer
Germany Socke
Ukraine Strelok

Group B
Korea MC
Korea Sound
Finland Elfittaja
Netherlands Ret
Germany HasuObs
Poland Nerchio

Group C
Korea Puma
Ukraine Dimaga
Korea FruitDealer
Poland Mana
United States Gatored
Korea Zenio

Group D
Korea DongRaeGu
United States Idra
Korea Supernova
Ukraine Kas
Korea ReaL
Belgium Feast

The tight know of SC2 excellency will be untied by March 10 when IEM will crown its Hanover champion awarding him the title of World Champion. The prize pool is of the hefty $75,000 so the stakes are indeed high.

Wow great groups! I like it that it's always 3koreans/3foreigners. It's very balanced and no one will whine that there are too many koreans or etc.
Still a korean will take the tournament for shooo!

#8 Diversity in WC events scales how well which players perform. If Koreans win every single stop, then it's only logical that the World Championship is full of them. I see nothing wrong here.

In a tournament with many top Koreans, its more valuable for a foreigner to get top 3. Kas and Nerchio might make it to top 3.

#13 he probably means that Koreans dont take foreigners seriously and will lose a few games on purpose to either avoid other koreans in the RO16 or help fellow teammates to get out of group

Koreans have always done this in broodwar

Since currently in SC2 they are as dominant as in BW its high chance it will happen here , too

Allthough i dont think there is much need for this currently

With Koreans in every group, I'd be surprised to see any foreigners making it to the next stage

Nothing wrong with the Koreans, just all tournaments have turned to be Korea vs The World format :D
