ReaL ends Feast's IEM Sao Paulo run
Posted by Radoslav "Nydra" Kolev 3 months ago

In a quarter final PvP series against Millenium's Feast, TypeReaL had few troubles qualifying for the Ro4 of IEM Sao Paulo. Tomorrow, ReaL faces fellow Korean terran oGsSupernova for the grand final spot.
ReaL daringly opened the series with a ninja expansion on Antiga Shipyard, allowing him to quickly build up a larger blink/immortal army. Once Feast realized how bad the situation was for him, he tried to expand himself and do a blink attack of his own into Real's main but that only made the things worse: just while he was blinking away from danger, Feast landed on Real's trap, consisting of immortals and forcefields, greatly reducing the number of stalkers.
Going into game two, ReaL opened by going straight for DTs but cancelling his shrine mid-way and expanding after already having forced a robo and a few observers after Feast. Millenium's protoss was seemingly very much behind with his counter aggression being a bit late but, luckily, he caught a few stalkers of Real out of position, making his supply lead even higher. That, combined with a cute two stalker blink into Real's main just for the purpose of hunting down probes, brought t he series back to a tie.
Although being off to a good start, the series ended a bit anticlimactically as Feast faced two build order losses - a 3-gate blink expand vs Real's 4-gate/blink and then a 1-gate/stargate opening that died to a simple 4-gate - and was eliminated from the tournament after having the best performance in the group stage score-wise.
| Sad to hear :( I hoped that Feast would be at least top 3 in this tournament :( Still he fought well but imo the jet lag affected him pretty bad since those build order loses aren't something usual by him. |
| U can't blame the jet lag for his losses, the koreans have jet lag too... It's pvp, anything can happen, and any good player can lose to a lesser skilled player because of build order loss in pvp. Although in this case, both are good players and imo both had jet lag, so it was a fair fight ;) |
