It was recently reported that Yo Hwan "BoxeR" Lim will operate as head of the coaching staff of his team SlayerS. This is the Emperor's first return to coaching since his pro-gaming debut in 1999.

Previously the role belonged to SlayerS_Cella, who took hold of the position in May 2011 but stepped down from it some time back to operate as a regular coach. The beginning of Boxer's SC2 coaching career will be marked by the first season of GSTL 2012 and he will work alongside both Cella [as regular coach] and Ryu Won [as the strategy coach].

"The appointment of BoxeR as the team's playing head coach is the best decision for the team at the present time," said SlayerS_Jessica. "For the moment we will operate the team with BoxeR at the helm for this season, and depending on this season's results we will determine whether he will remain as the playing head coach for the subsequent season."

The quote from Jessica is kind of weird to read, can she decide over boxer about the team or what..?

its boxer's team and jessica is the general manager and yeah shes his wife.

but just because its his team it doesnt mean he can do what ever he wants, the sponsors want results

and lets put boxer's abilities in perspective here, people seem to underrate any player who doesnt win a tournament but boxer after all these years is still top 50 in his field, how many people criticizing him can say that for themselves.

your opinion? it doesnt matter at all. how in hell would you know his current form? wasnt he in code s this previous season? I think if anything that tells you he DOES have the ability to win a gsl. You think you know his form from watching a few of his games. dumbass : )

i thought he was always head coach cella was just at the head for gsl's so boxer could focus on other things? cella is a very smart coach

yeah thought he already was a coach of some kind, having formed the team and with all his previous experience.

Jessica's quote sounds perfectly reasonable, it came across to me that it was up to boxer to discover whether he can invest time in both coaching and playing efficiently.

I kind of figured he was pretty much the coach anyway. Guess they just wanted to make it official

#12 on top of that he was very very close to advancing to ro16, basicly one more won game since he went 2-0 , 1-2 and 1-2. besides he is gonna be in code a for at least one more season, and who knows - he qualified for code s last season, maybe he will do it again

No dreamers, he simply doesn't have the speed to win a gsl anymore.. However he is still a great player, a legend etc etc. But #12 ur agression is simply stupid; boxer is kind of like a gate keeper now.. I think moving more towards coaching (like oov) is a great idea- he is a master strategist and this way we can have younger faster players executing boxeress-like builds ;).

#20 He has the speed (look at his reaction time and APM compared to other players). He lost a hundred times and fought hard to show good result in brood war. SC2 is just one year old. Give him the time to figure the game out. (I'm sure he will :) )

Fanboy here for sure but i'm sure as hell he's gonna create great things.

Oh and by the way.... Slayer's hellion build ? Boxer created a build that made blizzard nerf their game AGAIN (Because he made patch BW as well ... (I don't understand why. It was fun tu kill interceptor while landing a CC :p).
