The information about the 2012 season of the Major League Gaming continues to pour. Most fresh out of the oven are the dates for the Season Championships and the prize pool for the upcoming Winter Championship.
Five days ago, the first details about the 2012 season of MLG were made known, including the fully revamped format as a combination of Season Arena and Season Championship tournaments. To further sketch how the MLG experience will develop this year, the crew behind the popular event has outlined the specific dates for all the Season Championships. We remind you, that the latter will be offline events open to the public.
Although the exact dates are confirmed, MLG say that they cannot speak on where the Championships will make stop. Still unknown are also the dates for the Spring, Summer and Fall arenas, the qualifiers for them as well as what other games will be featured at MLG this season.
What is more interesting is the total prize pool for the Season Championships. Compared to the $14,000 Pro Circuit stops in 2011 (excluding the national championship), the purse for the offline events have grown more than five times to reach the figure of $76,000 distributed among the top sixteen finishers.
The first games of MLG 2012 are coming January 31st with the games from Winter Arena Qualifiers, followed by the Arena itself on February 24-26.

Did they all buy the same jacket ? -_-
#1 prolly a bulk buy from the place that makes their uniforms.... nice prize money for the lower positions good to see makes it worth it going 3500 for 5th6th place is awesome
Well, obviously given by the organizers to the caster in order to appear uniformly with the same jacket, accomplishing an unity of commentators. Especially because they are the face of an event and a good-looking appearance is crucial. Mission achieved by wearing a smooth jacket! Or they like each other so fricking much, that they all bought the same jacket to express how good of friends they are. Maybe they stitched the names of their colleagues in the inside of their jackets with hearts and smileys and an artosis pylon. Maybe they called each other 'slut' and 'bitch' (like some random girlies) backstage, because they are bothering that everyone has the same piece of cloth on that they wear for this event. As long as the jacket is the only thing they have in common its ok, but when they start arranging wearing the same underwear with each other it becomes weird. Luckily, as u can see, there are some good reasons for them to wear the same jacket. Pick one.
i think mlg is the best event overall. i like how the casters sit and stageplay is always amazing aswell. its set up like a real show on tv and its very professional overall. dreamhack is different, theres no real stage at all and the casters are always far away from the players, but i guess its because of its lan-history, so its still set up like a gigantic lan. looking forward to mlg year 2012 :)
