On January 29th comes the third edition of the SCAN Invitational, this time to be streamed live from Sweden. A total of eight players will be invited to test their skills for the £1,000 prize pool.
Organized by Team Dignitas and their zerg player and popular British caster Shaun "dApollo" Clark, the SCAN Invitational brings together eight European stars and pits them against each other in a day of constant StarCraft 2 action. Thus far, half of the contenders have been made known.
BlinG comes as one of the up and coming protoss talents who, although lacking a major gold, holds a multitude of first places at weekly cups, is the British national champion for the World Cyber Games and made an impressive run through the WCG Grand Finals themselves, beating his group 6-0 and reaching the quarter finals before finally being eliminated by Mvp.
Snute is also a player that have represented his country on various high-profile podiums. By winning The Convention 2011, Snute got the chance to carry the Norwegian flag to ESWC 2011 and half a year later a gold at ByLAN 2011 became his ticket to the WCG 2011 Grand Finals. There Snute would finish second in his group, beating Swedish "Infested Terran" Morrow and placing behind EG's HuK.
The other two players need little introduction. Nerchio is regarded as one of the top European zergs and holds a plethora of achievements such as first places at Battle in Berlin and WCG Poland as well as silver medals from IPL 2 and GosuGamers' own Razer GosuCup.
Kas also has a long history of eSports achievements. Top three finishes at WCG Grand Finals 2011 and IEM Kiev 2012 and a gold at WCG Ukraine are just a small part of what makes Kas one of the most dreaded terrans in Europe.
In the next two days the player list will be completed with two contenders being announced each day at 17:00 CET. On January 29th on 16:00 CET, the fight for the £1,000 will begin.
