French Zerg and superstar Ilyes "Stephano" Satouri has gotten himself into a sticky situation this week after signing with compLexity and then re-signing with Millenium the following day. A very confusing situation for the StarCraft 2 community which has now been resolved without legal action.
compLexity first approached Stephano on the 1st of September with the interest of acquiring the French player. After 18 days of negotiations and the terms of the contract had been explained to Stephano, Stephano told COO of compLexity, Jason Bass, that he had made his decision and proceeded to sign with compLexity.
Only hours after compLexity announced the acquisition of Stephano, Millenium announced that Stephano would remain with their organisation.
Both teams were caught unawares that Stephano had entered into a contract with the other.
Feeling disrespected and disheartened that the terms of a legally binding contract were dismissed so lightly, compLexity considered taking legal action against Millenium, fully intending on not giving up Stephano without a fight.
Millenium reached out to compLexity in hopes of resolving the matter peacefully.
With Alexander Garfield of Evil Geniuses acting as an intermediary, Millenium and compLexity were able to reach an amiable settlement.
Stephano will remain with Millenium and that a significant fine is to be paid by Stephano for his role in creating the situation.
